Alright guys, you're looking at the FX 4710 from Gateway and this is part of their
FX line of computers, so if your not in the mood to build something,
this might be right up your alley. Ironically enough, this is a
refurbished unit and the reason that I saw this computer and I started to do
video on it, was because of the price and what you get for the price
is pretty good, you get a lot of great stuff and you get
a lot of memory, more memory than I have seen in a computer in a little bit.
You get a do-getter Quad Core, you get plenty of RAM, you get a big hard drive,
nice video card, pretty looking cases. You can tell the FX series is
pretty much designed for gamers and for enthusiasts. It's not just your regular old
Windows XP computer for, you know. spreadsheets and some emails.
It is meant for gaming, so let's just dive right into the specs.
Now let's start with the processor, that's one of the big ones.
A Q9300 is right here. So that's a very fast Quad Core.
If you don't know about the Q9300 it is a 45 NM Processor
so it's gonna run cool and clean and efficient.
It's got a 1333 MHz front side bus, and it has 6 Mb of L2 cash,
which is really good for gaming. Now, on top of that you get,
6, count em, 6 GB of DDR2. 6, not 2, not 1, not 4 but 6,
6 Gb that's a lot. Probably more than you'll ever use.
It's got two 2 Gig sticks and it's got two 1 Gig sticks.
So all four slots are populated and that's a lot of memory.
I can't really imagine who would use it, but it's there and that's called,
"future proofing". You have a Quad Core you have a lot of memory,
so in the future more memory for applications,
will be able to run in a computer like this and it will last you for quite a while.
Continuing with the rest of the stuff that you get on here.
You get a 9800 GT, which is a GeForce card from NVIDIA.
It's got 512 MB of DDR3 frame buffer, so very powerful card and very popular as well.
And it's also the latest 9800 GT, so it is 55NM versus the 65NM,
manufacturing process, so it's gonna run again, cooler, cleaner, more efficient,
just like your CPU. What else you gonna hear.
Plenty of hard drive space. 500 is alot but this doesn't to 500.
It comes to more, it comes to 640 GB of Hard Drive space.
That is a lot. That's gonna take all your movies, all your photos,
all your files, all your programs, and still leave you with some room to spare.
Let me show you the outside, starting off up here.
Take a look, this is your DVD Burner, actually where is the DVD Burner?
There it is. DVD Burner is right there. That's your eject button.
And that is a SuperMulti drive, so it'll do +R/-R's, RW's, RAMs, ROMs...
All that good stuff, it will do dual layers and it does have
LabelFlash, as you can see, right there, LabelFlash.
It's a lot like Lightscribe but it's actually a little bit better
because you don't need a Lightscribe disc, it will work on any blank disc.
You have an expansion port down here, which will pretty much let you add,
whatever you want and they leave you that eject button righ there,
And coming on up to the top, up here, pretty much is a,
you can put whatever you wanted in here, if you wanted to.
It could be an additional expansion slot but,
most of the top part here is occupied by this 15-in-1 Multi card reader,
which will do Compact Flash and XD and MS, MS pro.
All those cards are gonna be supported on here and you additionally
have 2 USB 2.0 Ports right there and you'll notice that little button right there.
It says "copy". That will actually let you copy stuff between your flash cards.
So that's kind of an interesting little feature.
Down here there's not really much to be seen but
you do have a FireWire Port right there as well as your
input and output jacks for your headset and your microphone.
And then your Power button is right there.
That's where you would turn it on.
You do get this cool FX graphics which we have seen through the entire
FX Series of products from Gateway. It's orange with carbon fiber,
glossy black finish, really cool. And another thing,
I like about this computer is the operating system.
It runs Home Premium, you don't need Ultimate or all that extra stuff.
It's just a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Home Premium is great.
It runs lightest, it runs on the smallest amount of memory, but
they went ahead and threw in Service Pack 1 and they gave you the
64-bit addition which is great for 64 bit games.
If you're a little bit afraid of 64-bit Vista, it may have had
problems in the past, but in recent times with all the service packs and
all the hotfixes, it's fantastic now. Drivers support has increased...
exponentially! I would say it's 100 times better than when it first started and
there really is no problem running 64-bit Vista anymore, it's really great.
Actually, I like it a lot. Rounding out the package,
you obviously get the typical Gateway keyboard, which clicks very nice.
Nice, as I can type pretty fast on these. And you get a Gateway mouse.
Which what I like about this Gateway mouse, besides the fact that
it's orange and it looks cool, it's actually pretty big.
It looks small in the picture, but it's not, it's a big mouse and
pretty gamer like. It's got a big palm rest so you're never clawing it,
which is what you want to avoid and it's pretty smooth and I like it a lot.
You can use it to game definitely. Also included in the package are
2 little 2.1 speakers. Actually these are just 2 channel speakers. Left and right.
They sounded pretty decent when I hooked them up to my laptop.
So there shouldn't be any problem. Let me go ahead and show you
the back of this thing. And actually before I do that.
A lot of people asked this question and this will answer your question.
If you wanted to know if this thing comes with a restore disc,
or with a Windows disc, it does. Here it is. OK so that is there.
And the key is on the back and I'm not going to show it to you,
coz you guys are gonna try and take it. But you do get that.
Now let me go ahead and give you a quick tour.
It's really nice actually to point out that they did put a nice grade in here.
When you have a lot of negative case pressure and you're just blowing
hot air out the back, all the cool air is gonna come in through wherever you have a hole.
So the cool air is gonna come in through here and
cool that video card as well as the CPU cooler.
Air is just gonna flow right in through there and
on it's way out the back through the exhaust fan,
it will be going over all the components of the motherboard.
They are gonna be producing heat as well as your CPU cooler and
your video card, so that's pretty cool and important.
Take a look at the back. No, nothing really too big to notice.
But you do have your power supply up here.
You have PS2's for Keyboard and Mouse which are there.
This was your onboard VGA which you are no longer going to use because
of course you do have a video card, which is again the 9800 GT from NVIDIA.
Moving on down you have an eSATA port which is actually really really nice to have on board.
If you have external hard drives that will let you do a full
3 Gigabyte per second of through put which is just like, if the drive
just like if the drive was on the inside. Great for backing up or for getting
additional storage. You get 4 USB 2.0 Ports as well as a FireWire on the back.
This is your Ethernet which is very nice and can be easily located.
7.1 channel sound on the back. And of course these are your
2 dual-linked DVI's from the 9800 GT with a TV out.
This is an S-Video, digitalized video cable and
you can get a breakaway cable which will turn that into components,
which you can use with your TV. That's not included in the box but
it's very simple to get. You can go pick it up from us or
pretty much locally anywhere. It's easy to find.
And down here is this very cool little device.
This is very interesting. What this is, is it let's you
communicate with the internets through your phone lines.
It's called the modem. This one is the fastest it's the 56K.
It's crazy new stuff from Gateway. It's cool they put it on here.
I'm just kidding. No one probably ever gonna use that.
But it's there if you want to. So, going over the specs;
It's a nice looking computer. You wanna zoom in right here.
Just a recap quickly. Q9300 6 GB and Dual Channel Memory
of 640 GB Hard Drive, a 1900 GT, 64-Bit, Windows Vista Home Premium
with Service Pack 1, a Super Multi DVD Drive with Lightscribe or LabelFlash as they call it.
And a 15-in-1 Memory Card Reader Awesome awesome computer from Gateway.
It is a refurb, but it will get everything done and you know it's gonna work coz
they refurbed it at the factory. They tested it and sent it back out again.
Someone probably just returned it, they didn't like the orange.
Whatever, they changed their mind. They're dumb, you're smart. Get it!
It's a great computer if you don't want to build one.
Any questions on it, go ahead and hit me up at this email address:
