Cracow Fashion Week has started on the first spring day,
it is an cycle of fashion events organized by Cracow School of Art and Fashion Design.
Cracow Fashion Week has been inaugurated by presentation of 57 collections of this year's SAPU graduates.
It was 14th battle for 'Collection of the Year' title.
The show took place in a new location.
[Monika Jurczyk, SAPU PR manager] SAPU has changed location to Fair Hall in Cracow,
so everything that had been settled withing last 14 years has to be done from the scratch
but I think that this is a big step forward for us.
[Jerzy Gawel, SAPU director] In my opinion we constantly keep good level but it is whole Poland
and international fashion contests that will judge us.
SAPU students were as usual judged by High Council of Tailors
and by Media Board.
[Monika Onoszko, High Council of Tailors] For us it is vital that clothes won't crease or won't have any loose threads.
Although the idea and final effect are most important.
[Malgorzata Sobiczewska, Moda Forum] We are looking especialy for some freshness,
some sort of new breath. We are wondering what will be on top during upcoming season.
Young designer presented a true mix of forms, colours and inspirations.
[Anna Ziemniak, '4a.m.' collection author] My collection was inspired by 4AM hour.
For me it is the strangest hour of the day.
Audienc attention was drawed by 'Lady Di' collection by Krzysztof Piwnik.
It had expression, temper and was simply original.
That collection inspired by Aleksander McQueen and Lady Di.
That was simply a show.
[Krzysztof Piwnik, 'Lady Di' collection author] Main inspiration was 'Dynasty' TV series.
My approach to the collection was different than other authors. It is always with women and classic...
Everyone associate 'Dynasty' with *** fashion, I wanted to show that in a different light.
There were a lot of designers but there was only one statuette.
It took some time for the jury to announce the verdict.
In the meantime audience could have fun with Jerzy Antkowiak's show.
The winner was Aneta Zielinska with 'Echo' collection. Inspiration: 'The Pianist' movie with some additional retro twist.
[Aneta Zielinska, Collection of the Year author] Have I expected that? I had been awarded already before the show.
I received the highest possible mark for my diploma - for me that was already a reward.
There were of course other prizes. Creativity rewards were awarded among others to authors of:
'Coffee break', 'W kropce', 'Dziewczyna z obrazu Vermeera', 'Monada' and 'Power Woman' collections.
Few young designer will go for a month practice to Valencia in Spain.
One thing is certain - Cracow Fashion Week is drawing bigger and bigger audience every year.
Durring Cracow Fashion Week you can also attend exhibitions at National Museum
and many private fashion shows organized by SAPU graduates in Cracow.
