My family was fun, loving. It was just a
picture-perfect family. My middle sister
was two years older than I. You knew that
she would be there if you called, no matter
what time it was.
She was just a very dynamite lady.
My name is Linda and this is my story.
It was September, I was at work and my older
sister called me on the phone and said
"Ruth Ann has cancer."
It started this journey that I had never
in my life
imagined. I learned what families and
patients go through looking for
treatments. You find out after you lose
someone how much, you know, they meant to
you. And unfortunately she passed away at
65. She was a great person
and always through her fight thought of
no one but her grandchildren. I think
about how many that will never know
their grandmothers. That's what really
turned it around for me, to say I've got
to do the best I can to get patients to
find the treatments easier. And that's
what I do now.
BMS wants to help get those treatments
to those patients faster so they can
live their lives so that we don't lose
that patient tomorrow, or the next day.
We don't lose their smiles. We don't lose
their touches. I want people to know that
Bristol-Myers does care and we want to
make it easier.
