Hi my name is David Anderson and this is Matthew Hine.
Hello
We are from Anderson's Bodyshop and we are here today to take on a World Record for the
fastest mobility scooter in the world with our mobility scooter, which you see here
in front of you.
Myself and Matt built the scooter from scratch, the specifications are…
It's a 600 Bandit, slightly modified, shorter sump, split exhausts, tuned carburettors and
basically fitted into a mobility scooter.
The frame was a go kart chassis, shortened and lengthened to fit into the scale of a
mobility scooter, and Dave built the bodywork
The bodywork is all aluminium and everything works on it as well, such as the lights, the
indicators, the brake lights, even the horn works….everything works on it.
We were trying to get it road registered, but it has no front brakes so we don't think
we'll get it on the road.
I testing we've achieved 107.3 mph in 12.305 seconds so we think we should be able to take
on the World Record today which currently stands at 82mph by
Klaus Petersson from Denmark.
We've done a few modifications for today…we've changed the gearing so hopefully we'll hit
around 110 mph.
Well that's the plan!
Well that's it, we have done 4 or 5 runs now and we have achieved 107.6 mph which is
an unofficial new World Record, we just have to wait for
Guinness Records to confirm everything for us.
How did it go?
It's pretty good out there…stable…the weather conditions are starting to get a bit
cloudy now but before they were perfect. The scooter seems to be going fine.
We have just come in now, doing a few changes…change some wheels, take some bodywork off to try
and make it a bit lighter, but some different fuel in it and
see how we go for the rest of the day.
