I'm Jim Parks and this is Today's Green Minute.
From Blondie & Dagwood to Calvin & Hobbes, comic strips have long been a window into
the national psyche, and with all the threats to the health of the planet, it’s inevitable,
and very refreshing, that out of our growing green awareness there would bubble up a new
kind of comic strip.
It’s called “What On Earth?” and it appears in the blog section of NPR's Science
Friday website.
The jokes are based on the environment, or our lack of understanding of it.
Bebbo the polar bear and Kito the puffin – with their individual views and differences of
opinion - are the mouthpieces for author Neil Wagner.
As you can see, the art is top-notch, and Wagner is passionate that the humor be based
on hard science, so he writes an accompanying blog that offers his take on the state of
the green world today.
What On Earth can’t be found in the Sunday Comics yet, but it CAN be found on sciencefriday.com.
We think that anything that can show us the humor in global warming should get our attention!
Today's Green Minute is brought to you by Minute Navigator.
We make web videos that show your visitors the way.
