Hi, my name is Eric Sterns with Expert Village. I am going to be covering some basic leather
work and we're going to be going over, actually, the construction of a simple traditional style
knife sheath today. I started doing leather work about twelve, fifteen years ago as a
hobby for some things that I was working on for myself and for other people and, as it
turns out, it's something that I became passionate about. I have a bachelor's degree in fine
arts and design and it kind of became a natural extension of my artistic training and background.
I just kind of followed it into leather work, so. This is a traditional style knife sheath,
one version, anyway. It is made from rawhide, which is extremely durable and it has some
fringe that is deer hide that has been attached to the rawhide. We're going to go from the
raw materials through the fitting of the knife all the way to, hopefully, giving you an idea
of the process of going all the way through to finish. So, that's what we'll cover.
