4 Years on Youtube

(Castanet's promo END) Okay this is an anniversary video of sorts because January 21 was four years since I first uploaded videos to YouTube. But it all started before that and that radio commercial you heard was in November 2006 announcing that Castanet.net which is Kelowna based internet web site had created a special travel with JCV page, on which stories videos and photographs of travels would appear. And it was a very exciting time for me because working in construction, the hardest thing was getting the put in the door. Working 5,6 days a week sometimes over-time. Editing and making videos in between and learning how to do things didn't leave much time to pursue other aspects of moving forward. And besides that in the interior of British Columbia; This isn't like Toronto or Vancouver where you have a lot of opportunities to connect with technology-based organizations. It's changed some now. But even then it's a very closed community- hard to get head. and it was a real honor having Castanet say that they are going to upload our videos and stories to their newly-created travel with JCV page. So, that was back then. A lot of things have changed in the last four years. First of all by going to YouTube, which reaches the world and this allows people in Ontario New York, New Jersey, Florida We get a lot of views from California the UK, Saudi Arabia, Germany. I mean all over the world. Spain, Italy. Europe is very big because people travel from all over and internet is the biggest resource for information and if you want to, not just read about other people's experiences but see them, YouTube is where you can find the videos. We recognized this from the start. That's why we've been so dedicated to creating this uh... business platform for us. So today, 4 years we become in the top twenty most viewed in Canada. Right now we're the 16th most viewed all time with more than sixty three million views and we get an average right now of 120,000-plus views a day. It absolutely blows me away because two years ago when Cindy and I in 2008. Three years ago now. In 2008 when we were invited to YouTube Live we were getting thirty thousand thirty three thousand views for our videos and To see it go to fifty, sixty, a hundred hundred twenty thousand At a hundred twenty thousand views now in a day, that's as much as we had the first six months that we were on YouTube. We get that in one day. And I am proud of it you know it's it's omething that we persue hard. We pursue with a passion When people are writing to us and saying I'd love to be able to do that. All these different comments that we get about people trying to pursue their dreams There's an ELO song, 'hold on tight to your dreams' You've got to do that. You've got to hang on to it Don't let people discourage you. Believe in yourself and be passionate. Get excited about what you care about. because It's all up to you. And not everyone has a door open for them right on the first turn. It can take many different things. So that's the past and this brings me to the future now. Four years and the excitement is building in me because now I'm excited about sony's high-definition 3D consumer cameras coming and I see the next level in videos coming. I get totally blown away with excitement. hiTnking about whether it's nature and deer in the field or filming the model airplanes. Going to destinations and talking about destinations, This year I hope this again I have the opportunity to expand from the Carribean and North America by traveling to Europe. I would like for us to go to London England and right from London England to travel over too Paris France both of them phenomenal cities. And 3D cameras absolutely 3D On the way back I would like us to be spending time in central Canada Ottawa, Quebec City, Montreal Toronto Niagara Falls Head down into the United States. There's so many wonders in this world. And I'm really stoked about doing it in 3D because I think 3D is the game changer Today you've got kids going to 3D movies in the theaters They play 3D video games 3D TV's are are out there and now with 3D cameras In the next couple of years today's generation won't even know what a non 3D is like Can you imagine playing 3D games, watching 3D movies and then you're going to watch something that's not 3D. That would be like going back to black and white TV or mono radio. I'm watching the Barrat Jackson auction this weekend and they talk about in nineteen sixty three chevy that had a 2 speaker radio - factory installed there's a speaker in the front and one speaker in the back of course it was not stereo We've come so far - moving ahead and I'm really excited about continuing to move ahead but all of this has also been a lot of learning for me. I've learned that there's so much more to this world than just the all-inclusive resorts, five-star destinations there's the whole world out there and I got that impression the very first three-week trip when I arrived in the dominican republic went out into the countryside visited a local school which I know that anyone has been to dominican republic and takes one of these mountain tours will have done your taken into this classroom and you see in the face of the kids and suddenly realized that god you know wer're so lucky back home and yet so many people just don't realized how lucky they are or what they have and you see these kids in these classrooms They don't have air conditioning. Here, if the air conditioning kicks out the summertime in the school you've got to get the kids out of there because they're going to overeat because our kids are so delicate and uh... it was really amazing so whether it's uh... traveling through some of the smaller cities and towns in Jamaica or into Dominican Republic going into the fisherman's uh... village in Cuba or Holguin it has been a real eye opening experience and I have found paradise - paradise is all around us in this world it's in nature it's in the eyes of peoples in the eyes of kids and uh... so it's just an awesome experience by look forward to the next year and two and three years can't imagine where technology and everything will place and take us and uh... there's many more things that were working on stay tuned watch the videos and get out their and experience life thank you (END)
