I started in 1959 I was interested in mechanic But didn't known anything about this area didn't know a photographic machine was So all the basics photography concept were very confused to me But then when I was on charge of the reparation section of the photographic Chilean firm Lowen were we received the machines and they were sent to another studio to be composed and after a time I saw that many cameras were sent back without being repaired I started to examine those machines and I realized that they were reparable but because of the repair cost it wasn't convenient to fix them and with the authorization of the company I started to fix those cameras the camera and our work area started to grow up people start to know that all kind of cameras can be repaired box cameras or anything else So little by little I started to getting inside until I started to work with more complex cameras and finally I handle the whole area This through fifteen years in that company You started to work here in... In the 89 ...and until now He must learn about everything we fought Because each one has his own idea of how to do it But at the end we agree tht it has to be repaired He learned... but don`t want to continue The other day I saw a home made record of man who went to Japan An 8mm film recorded by him 30 minutes of recording, wich it means about... Eight or ten 8mm films ...togethers had a great continuity also the shooting quality ...and the image It was amazing what amateurs could do It surprise me Also the other day a woman came to pick up a projector do you remember that little projector? She was who recorded it An amazing focus And the calm to shoot Oh my god, those amateurs looks like professionals Today I see when people record with their cellphones for an example ..when they want to show something They move the camera as if they were sweeping the street People have no sense of what it is recording Because nobody taught them And everything is superficial without a reazon fo being Before you can see some intention, they direct this and show that An slowly approach zoom or they keep it in some point and then a zoom back I mean showing Interest by things It seems... Since the digital cameras appears For a big public... let`s say... Now anyone can use a digital camera Whether it is cheap or expensive We can say that today there's no family without a digital camera And I'm very sure that every family has 2 or 3 digital cameras ...and today`s It gives me the impression That the people don´t value the material things like before before a camera It could be the simplest camera not to say a piece of *** But they take care of it They use it, knew the kind of pictures it tooks and conform with it Today if I don't have a digital camera fixed in two weeks They are no longer interested and forget it If I make a budget for a camera and don't have it fixed and after two weeks I don`t have it delivered I have to consider it as a lost And when I say it can´t be fixed Many times they don't come to take it Come to take off only the 10% of them And the rest stay here they leave it here Because there is no more... that taste for the things I think so It becomes one more of the bunch and in the worst case I can take pictures with the cellphone -Welcome, good morning- -I come from Filmo Centro- -Matias Lopez- -Comes for the lens- The camera volume that we have registered I made an analysis of that Are like 126.000 and some Wich it means 126.000 receptions throw the years If I want to be precise about it I belive of the 126.000 receptions About 110.000 have been repaired the rest weren't accepted could not been fixed They leave it here If I imagine... that here, in this whole place Are about 3000 cameras in total yes, like 3000 if I estimate what 126.000 cameras are this room it would be exceeded... ...fill it to the top It would be exceeded to the outside Some times I think that it would be good After closing the atelier an idea thats comes around ..after closing, take all and classify it but well classified By year...
