I'm here today in Aberdeen with Wild Well Control, an American company,
which has developed the capping device which you can see behind me.
This is the first of its kind in the world,
and they've decided to base it here in Aberdeen.
The nature of it is it can be dismantled, put in an aeroplane,
flown around the world
to wherever there happens to be a blowout which needs to be capped.
So it's a great tribute to Aberdeen that they've chosen to put it here.
I think it also shows that they recognise the work which is being done
by government and by industry in this country
to address the problems which became evident following Macondo,
to make sure there is a rapid response which is available.
And then from here I'm going on to speak at the Offshore Europe conference
which is looking at a whole range of these issues
and how we can optimise returns from the North Sea.
