Presenting the third video from the Jyotirling series, today we shall talk about the third jyotirling Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga.
This has been mentioned in Shivpuran's Koti Rudra Samhita 16th chapter by Soothji Maharaj.
A Brahman named Vedpriya resided in Avanti now called as Ujjain.
He used to pray to the fire at his place.
He also built Parthivling & offered his prayers.
Brahman had four boys.
Devpriya
Priyamedha
Sanskrit
Suvatra
They were very learned & disciplined.
During that period, in the mountains of Ratanmaal a demon named Dushan received his wish to become invincible from Lord Brahma.
After spreading this terror, he started killing the all saints from Avanti with the help of this army.
Dushan created four more demons which spread on all the sides.
But Vedapriya's four sons who believed in Lord Shiva didn't look scared.
These four brothers started praying to Lord Shiva,
Dushan planned to attack all of them as they were busy praying,
He ordered his army to kill all of them,
This didn't bother the brothers as they continued to pray to Lord Shiva.
As soon as Dushan decided to hurt them, a crater was created around the Parthivling & demons fell into it.
Lord Shiva rose from the crater.
Lord Shiva who did justice to all, took the form as Mahakal on earth.
He looked at the demons & said, " I'm here so that I can kill you all'.
Lord Shiva killed Dushan using his power & the demon army escaped just by looking at what had happened to their leader.
This is how Lord Shiva killed Dushan the demon.
Lord Shiva was really impressed on the Brahman brothers & said,
I'm Mahakal Maheshwar & really impressed, I shall grant you a wish.
They asked him to grant them Moksha & stay back on earth.
Lord Shiva granted them Moksha & took his place in the crater.
As soon as Lord Shiva resided in the crater, 2 miles in all the direction became the place of his jyotirling.
That's how Lord Shiva is called Mahakaleshar.
