Hey everybody, welcome to The Take Out Diet. Today on the show we will be making something sweet something junkie
something you can get from the gas station or the grocery store, Oreos.
Yay, I am so so excited. It is not quite take out food but for me it falls into that category
because I eat it when I would eat take out food too. So lets get started.
We are going to start this recipe by whisking together our dry ingredients. I have cocoa powder,
all purpose flour or whole wheat white flour, baking powder, and salt.
Whisk that all together and set it aside. Now grab a second bowl so that we can cream together our butter,
(Earth balance brand) and our raw sugar. Once you have that creamed together add in your vanilla extract and flaxseed mix.
Which is just ground flaxseed and water whipped with a fork.
Mix that all together and then slowly and gradually add your dry ingredients to the creamed butter mixture.
It is hard to stir. This is a thick batter. But use your good muscles or an electric mixer to mix it together.
Now we are going to grab a piece of parchment paper and pour our dough out onto it.
Use the parchment paper to make a cylinder round doodie roll. It looks lie a piece of doodie.
And once y ou have that long and cylinder, we are going to freezer that roll for about an hour.
Once it has been in the freezer, we are going to preheat our oven to 325 degrees F. Use a sharp big knife to
cut your doodie roll into about 1/8 inch thick slices. Lay them out onto a baking sheet that has been lined with
parchment paper and bake them for about 20 minutes. Now our cookies are done and ready to fill.
I am going to fill our cookies with vanilla buttercream. If you don't know how to make vanilla buttercream
you can click the annotation labeled vanilla buttercream or you can check the description below for the recipe.
Now top the cream filled cookie with another cookie and we are ready to taste these.
These cookies are oh so chocolaty. They are really sweet, really crunchy like real oreos.
I probably could have cut them a little bit thinner. Some of them were a little on the thick side, but who doesn't want more
cookie anyway. And I kind of ran out of buttercream about halfway through the cookie
but that was okay because even with real oreos I always scrap that nasty white stuff out of the middle.
That is not buttercream that they use. What is that stuff? It is like astronaut food. You know when you go to the space center,
and you taste the different astronaut food, that is what that cream stuff in the middle reminds me off.
Something from a science fiction movie . . . off of my pedestal.
My vanilla buttercream taste delicious, but it kind of ran out and that is okay.
These are fantastic if you want to make oreos at home for your kids or your family or whoever
and I just loved them. And I love you guys that is why I am going to leave you today and come back tomorrow.
