Alexander Rybak tells why he left stage on the Norwegian Embassy in Baku the 17th of May.
AR: I couldn't sing Fairytale, because that was supposed to be a part of a medley, where I had to start with the violin, and the violin sound didn’t work
But it is… I don’t really want to … no matter what I say now, it will be seen as a poke towards the journalist who wrote this in Sweden.
And I feel more strong by not … I could for example immediately have written something harsh as a reply on twitter, but keeping silent can sometimes work too.
And I notice that every time he meets me now, it’s not … I look straight at him, but he avoids looking back. So I feel this was the right thing to do.
R: It was the sound problem that made you leave the stage before Fairytale?
AR: As long as I know that I haven’t done anything wrong, I just go on until there is nothing more I can sing.
AR: I think people at a party like this are more concerned about smiles and not that everything goes smooth.
And there was a lot that actually worked there, but I’m glad this wasn’t my big comeback concert at Oslo Spectrum, so to speak. This is a party.
I concentrate more about … while the others keep on partying, I play at the opening of the party and then I go home and practice for my exam.
So I have become kind of student nerd this week. I’m practising 4-5 hours a day and preparing for the exam.
