Hello, my name's Tom Brintzenhofe, certified master mechanic out of Reading, Pennsylvania.
Today I'm going to talk to you about how to...how to fix a stuck brake light. Fortunately, if
your brake lights are stuck on, there's usually only one culprit that's causing the problem.
That's your brake light switch. Unfortunately, every vehicle is a little different as configurations
of what they look like. The locations are all the same, they're always right above the
brake pedal. If you're unfamiliar with what they look like, unfortunately they all look
a little bit different. So, me showing you a couple of 'em is not going to do you too
much good. I do recommend you...you go out and get a repair manual for your vehicle that
you're going to be working on, and or ask one of the guys at the local parts store to
pull one out for your vehicle and show it to you. And then get up underneath your vehicle.
They're real simple to locate, they're right above the brake pedal. There's a little push
rod on it, it's a little button, like one of them little Staples easy buttons. Just
pushes it in, when your brakes are unapplied. And when you push that brake pedal down, it
releases it, opens up the circuit, and then your brake lights come on. It usually only
takes a couple of minutes to...to change out, but that's the simplest thing I could tell
ya. If the brake lights are stuck on and they won't go off, go after the brake light switch.
