Hey there! You want to get your hair from brown to bright
red, without bleach? Well, if you're like me, you know the horrors
of hair dying, I've cycled through quite a few colours and styles myself, as you can
see, but now I've wound up stuck with this brown colour, yuck!
So let's get it back to this lovely red colour, I'm gonna show you how!
So, you're gonna need a few things before you get started
You're gonna need something to mix your colour in, I'm using an old tuppaware box I found
in the kitchen You're gonna need some plastic gloves, this
will stop you from getting red dye all over your hands and looking like you've murdered
someone Some Creme Peroxide and your colour of choice,
I'm using L'oreal's MagiContrast You want something to measure your peroxide
in, don't use anything you're gonna use for food products afterwards
And you might wanna invest in a dye application brush, you can get these from any good hair
and beauty salon suppliers Okay, let's get started!
So, it's nine o'clock in the morning, my hair is gross, my face is gross, and i've got ginger
regrowth coming through You should always dye unwashed hair because
its natural oils will help protect it from any damage the hair dye does
I'm using L'Oreal MajiContrast in Red. It comes in four different shades of red and
I bought this online for 5.99, check the description for details!
Squirt half of your MajiContrast tube into your mixing bowl, I'm using half because I
have short hair, you may want to use more if you have longer hair.
I think its best if you just make up a small amount, and then if you need more you can
always mix up more, after all, we don't want to waste any of it
Grab your creme peroxide, I'm using 30 vol, this is usually what a hairdresser would use,
but you can use 40 vol if you want brighter hair
This is from Miss Lily's it's a store brand, I bought it from the same place online that
I got the MajiContrast Its probably worth pointing out at this point
that in the MajiContrast instructions it does say that you shouldn't use it to cover all
of your hair However, we're just gonna do it anyway. It
also says it doesn't cover grey hair, but being in my 20s that's not something I have
to worry about Next you'll need to measure out your peroxide.
It's 37.5ml to half a tube of MajiContrast, which is what I'm mixing up
Obviously, it's double the amount for the whole tube
Mix the peroxide developer into the MajiContrast, make sure there are no lumps in there
This is where the brush comes in handy, and you'll get a nice gel-looking paste like this
Notice I'm wearing my gloves, should have been wearing them earlier but I'm fearless
like that Now for some flattering camera shots
Start by applying the dye to your roots at your parting, this is where the brush will
come in handy I'm sure you're all wise enough to know that
you should wear old clothes when you're dying your hair, or at least a towel over your shoulders
This is why I'm wearing such a terrible night shirt, yes , I've had it since I was ten,
isn't it adorable. Some applicator brushes have a pointed end,
this is so you can part your hair efficiently to apply more dye to your roots
As you can see I've just fu*ked this up, like a pro
Continue to apply the dye all over your roots and then once you've done that you can move
onto your hairline You can apply Vaseline around the hairline
before starting to dye your hair, this will stop it from staining your skin
However, I haven't because, well, I don't have any Vaseline...
Once you've done all that you can move onto covering the rest of your hair, the lengths
and the ends It is better to use a brush for even coverage
but you can just, at this point, use your hands
Then you'll need to sit back and relax for 35 minutes,
Dayum, I look hot! Rinse, shampoo and condition, then you can
whip the towel off and have a look Style as you usually would and then da-na!
New hair! Although, it's a lot brighter in real life
than it looks in this video So there you have it, bright red hair from
a dark base colour without any bleach, whatsoever And my hair feels great and it looks good
too! Hope you like your results aswell!
Thanks for watching!
