Hi! I’m Katrina Cameron and on behalf of Expert Village. I’m going to show you how
you can overhaul your closet and make it an organized closet and make it an organized
well oiled machine for getting dressed in the morning. So there’s a few things that
you need to remember when you’re first starting an organizing project in your closet. You
need to first purge and that means going through all of your clothing and figuring out what
doesn’t work, what doesn’t fit, what don’t you like and things that you haven’t worn
in a long time. Those things need to be either donated to a local charity or if they’re
too worn out you need to put them in the trash. Secondly, you need to figure out what’s
not working in my closet in regards to space efficiency and what do I need more space for
and what can I use less space for now that I’ve purged some items. Thirdly, you need
to get the right organizing materials and that means hangers, belt hangers, things for
your jewelry and things for shoes such as shoeboxes or extra added shelving. After that,
we go through and usually it’s done on a garment rack or it can be done on your closet
rods, you need to color code things within their category. So shorts for instance, you
categorize from light to dark, left to right and so on. Same things with shirts, same things
with jackets and dresses. There are specialty items that might need to be preserved in storage
bags, so if you need some of those ahead of time go ahead and get the storage bags. So
we’re going to go on and I’m going to show you how to purge.
