UKEdChat is a weekly discussion which happens on Thursday evenings
at eight o'clock. It's designed to be a discussion for
educators in every sector of education.
Social media is growing day by day and more and more teachers
are getting online. Being on Twitter and using UKEdChat
is a fantastic way to collaborate with educators from around the world.
It simply is the best CPD out there. you can ask what you like and
at three o'clock in the morning you may ask for a lesson about
the history of the Vikings and suddenly out of nowhere somebody will
shoot it to you.
It is the hub for teachers in the UK on Twitter.
Okay, the next step I'm going to do is to have a sound
you don't need to do that but it's good fun so we will.
I've been working with UKEdChat for about
18 months now and I look after the day to day operations of the chat.
The topics are chosen by the people who choose to host
the UKEdChat for that particular evening. Anybody can join in and
we had teachers all the way from Key Stage one right up to the university level.
Some of the topics that we have talked about; obviously the new curriculum which
is coming out soon but also the more basic fundamental things like how
to improve parental engagement and how to push particular subjects
such as English or Maths in your classroom.
I can't imagine my own classroom now without the
things I've learnt.
