Erik: What advice do you have for someone trying to develop a better sense of style?
Lulu: I think to be yourself. Developing your own sense of style is a lifeÕs work I guess
sometimes, you know, personalities change or you might go through different moods, and
I think what you wear sometimes, you know, conveys how youÕre feeling. I have a producer
friend that wears a lot of color, and when sheÕs not wearing color itÕs almost Ð itÕs
out of character. It feels Ð it feels very strange, you know. Ultimately, I think, oneÕs
best style is someone who really just owns it. You know, so youÕre comfortable in your
own skin. YouÕre comfortable with what youÕre wearing. You have your own sense of self.
I just watched this great Bill Cunningham documentary and I thought the movie was inspiring
or re-inspiring. It reminds you of all these great things, and Bill basically captures
everyone on the street, and he spots trends, and it could be, you know, it could be fashion
editors, or socialites, or the bike messenger, and he basically shows the humanity behind
it all and how everyone has their own sense of style, you know, and expression. I guess
style ultimately is expression.
