Hey guys, it s Mark Robertson with ReelSeo.com at Vid Con in Anaheim, California. I m here
today with Marc Hustvedt So tell us a little bit about chill.com for those that aren t
familiar with it. What s the mission behind it and why you guys started it. Chill is a
community of people sharing videos that are found from all over the web. Not necessarily
their own. What we saw really as a problem, is that discovery was still a little bit broken.
I mean, there are tools out there, there s blogs and there s ReadIt and there s the most
popular on YouTube, but these are a little like blunt instruments in terms of finding
like what is really relevant to me personally. So, I really looked and said, look your social
graph is actually your biggest influence of a lot of things in your life, even like Should
I go see Avengers this weekend? What s this show Girls all about? We listen to our friends,
so therefore we like, built software that sort of enabled the sharing of video to happen
between friends. Is it sort of like an automatic curation based off your social connections,
or is it more active? s definitely participatory. I mean, so that the ideas you have everyone
has a chill page, I have a chill page, you have a chill page, and in some ways it acts
at a very simple level at a utilitarian level it s like a DVR for the internet I can take
a video that I found like on HULU, I m like Oh, god, I got to watch that Office episode,
because it s amazing. So I put it on my chill page. I can take a YouTube video of that crazy
viral of the day, but I just don t have time to watch, so I just throw it up there. What
else? Oh, yes. The State of the Union, it s like, s put that up, that s a live, streaming
video. We take video from all over the web. Because the web is very, very diverse, with
the types of video there s all of these different pocket and niche videos sites, of course.
But the consumer, their tastes are eclectic, just like in music. They want a little hip-hop
and they want a little classical, so we allow that all to happen in one place. You can follow
me, you can see what I ve been sharing, you can repost what I ve been sharing, I can repost
what you ve been sharing. In that way we sort of weave it all together, I curate for you
and you curate for me and together we can curate this really cool experience. So, have
you guys used Chill and, if so, how do you use it? How do you like it? Comment below
and let us know.
