We are here today at the Blue Coat event. Hugh, you wrote several books, you are the Chief Security Strategist - if I say it right - you educate cyber security in New York and you joined Blue Coat recently.
For the people watching SecureTV it would be interesting to hear a little bit about what you see in the marketplace today on IT security and what is coming.
The security market is growing rapidly. In fact it is amazing. We see so many attacks over the last 24 months. Not just cyber crime, activism, persistance threats.
We'll see a new focus and we need to be asking ourself "what do we need to do?" in this dynamic shift in the threat environment.
In think specifically you are going to see a special interest in BYOD, people bringing personally owned devices. How do we manage these things, direct and corporately.
I think you are going to see a lot of questions from "how do we deal with the amount of traffic, how do we analyze the data".
So how do we deal with well meaning trusted insiders who make unfortunate choices and click on the wrong things. It is going to be a really interesting year.
What are we going to see next your - from the technologic side - to solve this?
I think we are going to see market driving analytics, very interesting analytics. I think big data was a concept last year. I think next year it's going to be more of a set of actual first strike applications.
Ways that we can actually take the whole set of data and transaction to the web and transactions even outside of the web.
And really feeding in that data together, aggregating and asking important things about our environment. Are we exposed in any way we did not know about before?
Intelligence of the data. I think that specifically from security perspective and technology perspective, you are going to see innovation there.
I think you are also going to see innovation in mobility. Especially around being able to deal with mobile security challenges on both the network and the endpoint.
