Welcome once again to Discover the Truth. There was once an individual who stole $1,000
from a friend. After he was confronted by his friend, the thief admitted that yes, he
had taken the cash. He asked forgiveness from his friend and said he was deeply sorry. But
he still kept the money! Was he really sorry? Was his remorse genuine? Or was he just sorry
because he was found out? This illustrates the common problem of false
repentance. Those who seem contrite over wrongdoing but who don’t change their ways are not
truly penitent. Today we are going to discuss what true repentance
is and why it is so rare in our world today. To be convicted of transgression is to begin
to understand our Father in heaven. In His Word Almighty Yahweh repeatedly tells us to
turn from sin. In fact, that message is THE cornerstone of the Scriptures from Genesis
through Revelation. It is stunning that it is virtually ignored today! Sin that began
in Eden has plagued this world for 6,000 years, destroying the goodness and happiness that
were intended for us here on earth. Yahweh never wanted the evil and suffering
we see today. All the strife and misery we live with is brought to us exclusively through
our sin. Because humanity decided to go a different direction from what Yahweh intended,
we have had to deal with the consequences of our sin.
When terrible things happen, you hear people say, why did He allow it? Listen, it isn’t
His fault. It is our own sinful ways that cause pain and suffering. He warned of it
back in the Book of Deuteronomy. He said you will have blessings if you obey me, and curses
if you don’t. He said over in Deuteronomy 28:2: “And all
these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice
of Yahweh thy Elohim.” What does His voice say? Verse 1: observe and do all His commandments.
Now if we as His creation fail to obey Him, He promised in Jeremiah 26 that we would be
cursed. You can read all about the curses…in your daily newspaper. It is filled with bad
news, of sin gone rampant. The overall effect of sin is a society that
is losing its moral conscience. Our culture is more confused about right and wrong than
at any time in history. Our increasingly self-centered, narcissitic world is fulfilling the prophecy
Paul wrote in 2Timothy 3:1: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall
come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers,
disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers,
false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded,
lovers of pleasures more than lovers of Elohim; Having a form of holiness, but denying the
power thereof: from such turn away.” Part of the problem is that Almighty Yahweh
is no longer feared. Instead, the attitude is that He is there just to do our bidding.
He has been reduced to a heavenly genie: rub the lamp and He will grant you your every
desire, and will fulfill your every want. And WHY should He do this for you? Because
you have PLEASED Him by eagerly, humbly, and sacrificially doing what He asks of YOU? Sadly,
no. I’m afraid that message will never draw thousands to a worship service. BUT…If you
build a broad, compromising road, promising prosperity for nothing, then they will come.
You know it started with haSatan when he whispered to Eve: You can fulfill your every want. YOU
can become great! Even become deity. Satan knows well that the result of self-worship
is self-destruction. It is the course he himself chose. Self is the new religion today. Indulge
yourself. Fulfill your every desire. You deserve it. You deserve happiness.
On the contrary. We as rebellious sinners all deserve death, the Scriptures say. The
wages of sin is death, and all have sinned and come short of the glory of Yahweh, according
to Romans 3:23. This is the deception the Apostle Paul warned
of in 2Timothy 4:3. “For the time will come when they will not
endure sound doctrine" [that is Didaskalia meaning teaching, instruction]; "but after
their OWN LUSTS shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears" [that is knetho
--desirous of hearing something enticing to satisfy the carnal nature].
The Bible’s warning against sin and its consequences is lost in the mad scramble to
satisfy our own wants and desires. On today’s program we ask, do you seek REAL
blessings? The kind that last an eternity? Then start by repenting of sin and changing
your life. Begin obeying Yahweh. 1John 3:22 promises, “And whatsoever we ask, we receive
of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his
sight.” If you want your life to be blessed, a fulfilling
life that will have the promise of salvation, then just read Revelation 22:14, which says:
“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life,
and may enter in through the gates into the city.”
Realize that this is Revelation, the last book of the New Testament. It follows 65 books
of the Bible and concludes by instructing us to keep the commandments.
That teaching may not be popular today, but it’s the truth nevertheless. It is time
to begin obeying the one who created you and gives you life every day.
To have “right” to the tree of life is the Greek exousia and means a privilege granted.
No, we can’t earn our way into those kingdom gates, but still we must gain the favor of
Yahweh if we have any hope for life everlasting. Worshiping Him in every way He tells us and
following all He commands is the only way to gain His favor and blessings.
The Bible is a book about learning Yahweh’s ways truths and molding our lives into His
image and the image of His Son. It teaches what to avoid when it comes to sin, and how
to regain His favor if we happen to sin. Sin is deviation from His ways. Sin is transgressing
His laws, according to 1John 3:4. We'll have more on this subject of repentance
when we come back. Biblical Law, in America the church and state
want nothing to do with it and on this issue there is no separation. To remove the laws
that built our great nation will ultimately be our ruin. John Adams wrote "Suppose a nation
in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member
should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged
in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity
towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise
would this region be." As today's church replaces obedience with
grace alone many are baffled to see the Ten Commandments being removed from our courtroom
and the public square. The result is increasing lawlessness. Yahweh's laws were never meant
to be thrown away. If you want to live a prosperous life with blessings then you need our free

Welcome back! The Apostle Paul told the Galatians that His
entire purpose was to teach about the Father and His son. Key to that teaching is to learn
how they expect us to live. Galatians 1:6 says: “I marvel that ye are
so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Messiah unto another good news:
Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the good news
of Messiah. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other good news unto you
than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
There is no other avenue, path or way to salvation. There is only one Master, one faith, and one
baptism, as Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:5. Who are you following, man or Messiah? Paul
continues in Galatians 1:10: “For do I now persuade men, or Elohim? or do I seek to please
men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Messiah.”
Today’s dearth of Biblical teaching should not catch the sincere Believer off guard.
It was actually prophesied in the book of Amos chapter 8 verse 11:
“Behold, the days come, saith my Sovereign Yahweh, that I will send a famine in the land,
not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of Yahweh."
Now to underscore the point, He adds in verse 12: “And they shall wander from sea to sea,
and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of Yahweh,
and shall not find it.” You see when the Bible is not taught, the
culture loses its spiritual bearings and turns to moral relativism. It has to have some guidelines
for life, so it invents things like political correctness.
The word most consulted in dictionaries today is “integrity.” Society is fast forgetting
what the word means. The person of virtue, who studies the Word and stands strong in
integrity and honor, is fast disappearing. Another key Bible teaching that is on the
critical list, but critical to salvation nevertheless, is repentance. Eighty-seven percent of people
in America say they believe in the heavenly Father. But they don’t know what He expects
of them according to the Word. He is not central to their lives. They have never been taught
to live by His commands so they are not clued into His way of thinking and His way of life.
They have never been told they needed to repent. They think they will be saved in their sins
regardless. A recent study found that half of all who
claim to have been “saved” go back on their conversion within one year. Clearly
they did not understand real repentance, let alone when and how salvation is granted. Does
true, Biblical repentance simply mean to be sorry for sin, or is there even more to this
imperative in a Believer’s life? Mandatory obedience to an all-powerful Mighty
One named Yahweh saturates the Scriptures from Genesis through Revelation with clear
instructions on how to go about obeying. When you move toward truth by picking up your
Bible and comparing what it teaches with what you may believe—that’s when you begin
to see truth and also discrepancies. The way some rail against obedience, you would
think that to obey the One you worship is sin.
Of course, if you don’t need to obey, if sin is irrelevant to your walk, then it follows
that you don’t need to repent, either. Repentance is pointless if obedience is not mandated.
Repentance is meaningless if sin is irrelevant. Repentance has no significance if you are
already saved regardless of your sins. In Romans 6:23 we read that the wages of sin
is death. How can it be any clearer? That means that repentance of sin is a necessity
for salvation. For everyone! Paul warned in Acts 17:30: “And the times
of this ignorance Elohim winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.”
1st- Yahweh commands repentance. 2nd- Repentance is the first step in obliterating
sin. Peter said in Acts 3:19: “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins
may be blotted out...". 3rd- Repentance brings life to anyone who
does so: Acts 11:18 tells us,”Then has Elohim also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto
life.” 4th- The penalty for not repenting is death.
Yahshua explained this when He talked of the deaths of some Galileans in Luke 13:3, there
he said: “Except you repent, you shall all likewise perish”.
So what is true repentance? We can go to the Hebrew and Greek words to
learn what the Biblical defintion of repentance is, but first we will look at some case studies
of both false repentance and true repentance so that we can understand the truth of the
issue. We turn to 1Samuel 13:9 we read the account
of King Saul. The first recorded “sin” of King Saul
was when he himself offered up a burnt offering instead of waiting for the priest Samuel to
do it we find that in 1 Samuel 13:9. There was no record of Saul’s “repentance”
even after Samuel’s rebuke. The second time King Saul sinned was when he spared the conquered
King Agag and the best of his sheep and flocks, violating Yahweh’s explicit command not
to do so. Now, the key point is Saul’s own confession with the three words, “I have
sinned”. Did he actually repent? Read on and you will see that he didn’t repent at
all. Genuine repentance must be accompanied by action not just words. As we said at the
beginning, you can say you are sorry and repent, but if you keep the thousand dollars you show
non-repentance. It was Samuel who had to rectify Saul’s disobedience to Yahweh by eliminating
Agag. Saul just wouldn’t do it. Even after Saul “wept aloud” in 1Samuel
24:16 when told of how David spared his life, his heart was still not repentant.
We also find that example in Judas Iscariot of false repentance. The man was so in love
with money that he betrayed the Messiah, Yahshua the Messiah for 30 pieces of silver.
Matthew 27:3 says that Judas was “seized with remorse.” And like King Saul, he said
“I have sinned.” He confessed, but he did not repent.
Stay tuned. We have a little bit more and we'll be right back.

What is the difference then between true repentance and these two common cases of being sorry
for sin but not truly repentant of it? Here is the difference.
In 2 Corinthians 7:8 Paul reveals the distinction between true and false repentance.
I want to read this out of the New King James Version, which says: “For observe this very
thing, that you sorrowed in a righteous manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing
of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication!
In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.”
True repentance involves grief for offending Yahweh. For violating His Word. It acknowledges
a sin against Him. After King David sinned, he was asked by the
prophet Nathan, "Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of Yahweh, to do evil in his
sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to
be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. Now therefore the
sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me…”.
Having done these terrible things why did Yahweh not only forgive him of *** and
adultery, but also will give him a key position of rulership in the coming kingdom right under
Yahshua the Messiah? It is because of David’s heart, when he humbled himself before Yahweh
and prayed in Psalm 51:4, “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil
in thy sight,” he reavealed the true heart. Repentance that is done out of a fear or punishment
or loss of blessing is false repentance. Redemption comes from a repentance that realizes a violation
was done to Yahweh Himself through sin. It comes from the depths of the heart and has
Yahweh at heart. In true repentance, the repentant willingly
surrenders his will to Yahweh and thus views Yahweh differently. He comes to the realization
that he is thoroughly sinful and desires with his whole being to turn from sin. He honors
Yahweh’s word and resolves to obey it. He humbly submits himself to His Father in heaven
and with all his heart aims to change his life to conform to the life shown us by Yahshua
the Messiah. Repentance is a radical, drastic act, it is
not just saying "I'm Sorry". The apostle Paul, in one of the most dramatic
examples of true repentance and transformation, went from persecuting the believers to become
one of the staunchest promoters of the truth that he once passionately hated.
The Philippian jailer is another example of genuine repentance. This pagan who was charged
with guarding Paul and Silas in prison is found later on washing their stripes and feeding
them in his house because he had heard and headed the call to repent and accept the truth.
His very attitude made a 180-degree reversal. Repentance will also change a person's life
today. When you repent, there is no "If I have sinned"
or "I sinned but…" The repentant individual turns to Yahweh with his whole heart and obeys
Him at all costs. In 1John 5:3 we read, “For this is the love of Elohim, that we keep his
commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of Elohim
overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.”
Elsewhere in 1John 2:3 we discover how we can truly know our Father in heaven, we read
there “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that
saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
Repentance is ongoing because sin is still being overcome in our lives. But it should
just be minor course correcting. In the book of Luke chapter 15 Yahshua the
Messiah told the parable of the Prodigal son. Like the repentance of King David, this son
demonstrated true repentance as well. One that has Yahweh at the center of his life.
After he received his inheritance and squandered it on sinful pleasures and was reduced to
slopping hogs to survive, of all things. Luke 15:17 says, “he came to himself.”
He realized his present life was a dead-end. Realization is the first action toward repentance.
Admission that he had done wrong had to come from him. Now notice the key to repentance
that comes in his next confession, he says: “And the son said unto him, Father, I have
sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son". He
had to get to the point of complete subjugation to Yahweh and place himself at the mercy of
his family as well. Just being sorry for one’s actions is only
the first part of true repentance. The next is to turn to Yahweh and follow His ways.
That means stop the sin. Make restitution if necessary, and go a different direction
in life from that point forward. That is why true repentance involves showing
the fruits worthy of repentance. Mere sorrow that the world demonstrates is
an emotional response; sorrow that leads to TRUE repentance is also an act of the will.
The truly repentant will show by his actions that he really means it. It has a genuine
loathing of sin. It grieves the very thought of having sinned.
Biblical repentance means that a person sees his sin for what it really is; disgusting,
defiling, and most importantly, a violation against Yahweh Himself. When Yahweh is not
at the center of our lives, we are in danger of continual sin. Romans 1:28 reads, “And
even as they did not like to retain Elohim in their knowledge, Elohim gave them over
to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” Then follows a list
of all kinds of evils and despicable acts. You see true repentance calls for deep, honest
reflection on our sin. It not only understands the consequences of sin and divine wrath,
but recognizes that we have turned against Yahweh Himself when we sin.
We hope this message has been instructional to you and we pray that you will take the
lessons and apply them to your life, and come back again next time as we study the Word
and the teachings of our Savior and His Apostles. For today's free offer call now!
