Hi there, I'm Roberto. Hope you guys are doing well.
Last Tuesday in what many wished would have been a belated April Fools joke, Disney announced
the sequel to Finding Nemo: Finding Dory. And people immediately started to freak out,
I don't know why. I used to be a huge geek of CG animation.
Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2 were amazing. A Bug's Life and Monsters, Inc. were OK.
Finding Nemo and The Incredibles were super awesome!
It was Cars the film that pretty much ruined my inner childhood, and least in the context
that it made me see that I was too old to be watching those films.
So yeah, after watching Cars I lost touch of most of the CG animated film industry.
I haven't watched Ratatouille or WALL-E or Up, let alone Cars 2.
I also lost interest in the third films of Shrek and Ice Age.
In fact, the only exception has been Toy Story 3, which was way too awesome to ignore and I don't
regret a single second I spent watching it, so when I heard the news yesterday about a
sequel to Finding Nemo, I wasn't that concerned. Yes, Disney and Pixar can screw this one up
so badly but they can also make something amazing.
Again, look at Toy Story 3. We now know that Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres
are going to be reprising their roles, so that's awesome.
Also, many of the guys from the Dentist's fish tank are going to be there, but because
of the way the movie was written, the original voice of Nemo will not be returning.
We don't even know who they are going to cast for Nemo now.
But yes, I'm mildly optimistic about this sequel and we have plenty of time to see how
things develop between now and November 2015, which is when they plan to release the movie.
So if you heard this news and immediately freaked out...
[screaming] OH MY GOD, THEY ARE GOING TO RUIN MY CHILDHOOD!
My advice to you is simple. Keep calm and remember:
P. Sherman. 42 Wallaby Way, Sidney. P. Sherman. 42 Wallaby Way, Sidney.
P. Sherman. 42 Wallaby Way, Sidney. But I want to hear what you think.
Are you excited about this sequel? How about other movie sequels you would like
to see? And what about those movie franchises you
wish they'd never make a sequel of? Let me know in the comments below.
