leaky toilet
or screaming toilet chances are its a bad valve
today I'm going to show you change that here on build.com tv
now plumbing projects around the home can be very intimidating
but changing out a valve on a toilet is relatively easy now all you need is a universal valve and a pair of pliers
first turn off the water supply
now completely drain your tank by holding down the lever
using your pliers remove the supply line
next you're going to want to remove the nut that keeps the valve in place
now just remove the valve
now just assemble your new valve
make sure the rubber washer goes inside the tank you may need to adjust the height of your fill valve
install your new valve and attach it with the new nut
reconnect your supply line and install your fill hose
all you need to do is turn on the water and give it a try
all right
looks great and sounds great and doesn't leak anymore
now we're just off a little bit on our water level and we're going to fine tune it by adjusting the float
thats perfect its just a simple part for a major problem
