Telly: It’s February 27th, and it is opening night of RENT in Los Angeles, California. Hollywood, baby!
[music]
Telly: Karmine, it’s opening night. What are you wearing?
Karmine: All right, well. We’re doing fun colors here.
Telly: Ohh, I love that.
Karmine: Fuschia, white, gray, and then, Yuka, show these little…
Telly: What are those?
Karmine: These are like little leggings, but they, you know, they have the cut-offs there.
Telly: Cute.
Karmine: So it’s gonna look kind of like the black… Telly: Yes.
Karmine: … but just shorter. I love it!
[music]
Telly: My favorite part of opening night is getting an outfit.
[music]
Karmine: Haneefah, what are you wearing for opening night?
Haneefah: What does it look like? [Karmine laughs]
Haneefah: Cha-ching!
Karmine: Woohoo! I love it.
Justin: But with the hair and with a good shoe, you set it off.
Telly: Opening night party is at this cool restaurant, which is right near the theatre, called Café Was.

Hi, it’s Telly here, and it is day 3 in LA right now. It’s February 28th.
We’re in the middle of Act Two, and right around now – let me check my phone and see what time it is.
It’s 9:50, which means it’s 10:50, 11:50, 12:50 in New York City. About 1 o’clock.
And as you can see, my eyes are bloodshot because of the jet lag.
It’s day 3, and I’m still exhausted because my body feels like it’s 1 AM right now, so this has kind of become my best friend.
CVS Redness Relief ’cause I look crazy onstage with just bloodshot, sleepy eyes.
Wah wah wah.
Andy: Estamos en Los Angeles y ahora
vamos a comer un poco de Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles.
Telly: Where are we going?
Andy: Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles.
Telly: Awesome.
[music]
Karmine: Sausage and meatballs! I miss my sausage and meatballs!

Telly: Shaun!

Telly: Today is March 2nd. Monday. We still have another week of shows at RENT at the Pantages,
but we are so excited tonight because on our night off, we are here at the Magic Castle Theatre to see Carol Channing.
You know, Broadway’s Dolly and star of Gentleman Prefer Blondes.
She is doing a benefit for the Carol Channing Foundation, which promotes arts education in schools,
and some of us from RENT are going to be going to her benefit tonight here in Los Angeles.
We are so excited because the Magic Castle is this exclusive gentlemen’s club where nobody gets to go unless you know someone,
and it’s an exclusive club for magicians, so you either have to be a magician or a friend of a magician.
I don’t know, it’s crazy. I don’t know how we ended up being here, but we are so excited to see Carol –
[does impression] Carol Channing. Carol Channing at the Magic Castle Theatre.

Carol Channing: They say the prime of life hits people all at a different age. Shirley Temple had hit at 8 years old.
I think I feel… along about 84 I’ll be entering it. [laughs]
