Welcome to this advanced tips video about low frame rate issues.
Before attempting the steps detailed below,
we suggest having a look at our video "Basic low frame rate troubleshooting".
Each chapter of this video can be accessed directly
by clicking the links in the table of contents
currently shown onscreen.
Updating your sound and video card drivers
might help you solve issues you experience in-game.
To check the driver version, start by simultaneously
pressing the Windows key and the R key.
In the window that appears, type "dxdiag" and then click "OK".
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool window will then open.
Once it has finished loading, click on the "Display" tab
to find out your video card name and driver version
and on the "Sound" tab for your sound card name and driver version.
The device name and manufacturer is listed in the "Device" section.
The version and date of your drivers is shown in the "Drivers" section.
To update your drivers, you also need to know
whether your operating system is a 32 or 64 bit version.
To find out, click the "Start" menu button,
right click on "My computer" and then left click "Properties".
If you're using Windows 7 or Vista,
you will find the version of your operating system
in the system section under "System type".
If you're on Windows XP, check if there is an entry
containing the words "x64 Edition".
If there is, then your computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows.
If not, then it is a 32-bit version.
As you now have all the required information,
visit the video and sound card manufacturers' websites
and download and install the most recent drivers.
Note that some integrated hardware,
common in laptops and pre-assembled computers,
may require you to check your computer manufacturer's website directly
in order to obtain the latest drivers.
Please keep in mind that the driver update procedure
may vary depending on the manufacturer.
Therefore, please make sure you follow all the instructions
given on your manufacturer's website.
Once this has been done, launch the game
to test if the new drivers solve your issue.
