Hello my name is Harriet Muller and today I'm going to be teaching you how to draw
something a little bit different; it's going be how to draw a dragon's head, so
what you're going to need is some plain white paper, a pencil, a rubber and a
black pen. Let's get started
okay so we're going to start off with your pencil. Do this fairly lightly.
We're going to start off with a kind of diamond shape in the middle of the page.
Draw a diamond shape just like that. Perfect- you don't have to use a ruler-
don't worry. Then on to the diamond shape we're just going to draw like a
rectangle coming out at a slight angle. So it's going to be a rectangle shape a bit
like that; just like that. Now we're going to draw two curved lines coming down
from the bottom of the diamond. So one coming down like so, and the other one on
the other side and then we're going to be doing from the top of this diamond
shape, just follow it along but draw a curved line all the way out like that.
And then from here we're going to do the same thing. What I find is quite useful
is if you keep your wrist in the same place and then just pivot the hand and
that allows you to get a nice curved shape. So just pivot the hand like that
and then we're going to do it again further down from about here.
I'm just pivoting my hand like that. And then last but not least, we're going to
draw a line across the rectangle shape just like that. Now we're going to add
the pen, going around the outline. So this is actually going to be the dragon's nose.
So we're just going to do spike going upwards and then coming around you can
make that a bit more spiky. Feel free to adapt this, you know, this is just my
interpretation of what a dragon would look like. And then we're going to do a big
bump as it comes round, like that. Then we're going to follow this curve all the way around
to a point and then we're going to come back round and we're going to do the mouth.
So I'm going to give this dragon almost like a beak shape at the end. And then
bring it round and then we're going to do a mouth similar to, I don't know if you've
seen my how to draw a crocodile tutorial, but you can do kind of a crocodile shape
mouth. Bring it up like that and like crocodiles, they've got some of the
bottom teeth showing. And then I'm going to do one of the top teeth, another one there and then another one on the bottom. Then we're
going to follow around the jaw and I'm going to bring it round like this.
So there's really no right or wrong with a dragon you can just make it up and
make it look exactly how you want it to look. So the nostril: I make a big flared
nostril there. Just like that. And then the eye. I think we're going to need a
mean-looking eye so just draw the top of the eye and then the pupil and then just do like a
little slit pupil kind of like a cat's eye or a snake's eye. Something like that
There we go and then now we're going to follow the neck round. And then with this line
here, we're going to draw another part of the neck coming down and then another
parallel line.
There we go. And then I'm going to draw some scales- bring it all the way around.
Like so. There we go. Now I going to finish off
these kind of- I don't know what you'd call them actually- horns maybe?
So let's bring it round using these curved lines as a guideline.
There we go.
Bring them all the way around to about there. And then now I'm going to add
a few more spiky parts and then we'll do the back of this going all the way
round. and I'm going to draw a few more spikes on
the back.
They almost look like waves these spikes.
There we go. And then to finish it off I'm just going to
do some cross hatching, which is where you do lines in one direction followed
by lines in the other direction.
This is going to give the impression of scales.
and there you have your dragon! I'm just going to rub out with a pencil lines now.
So here we have a very mean-looking dragon. I rubbed out all the pencil lines.
And remember you can adapt it so that you can draw it however you want it to
look like and remember to color it in as well- different shades of green, mix them
all up and make it exactly how you want it. If you've enjoyed this, please
consider subscribing and liking and hope to see you on the next one. Thank you, bye!
