FRANK SCHWAB: The NFL released its full 2016 regular season
schedule on Thursday, and five games
jump out as the most anticipated on the slate.
At number 5, we have the Brock Osweiler Bowl.
The Houston Texans come to the Denver Broncos
in week 7 for a Monday Night Football game on ESPN.
And let me tell you, the Denver fans
are going to let Osweiler, who left after the off season,
hear it early and often.
I don't expect a very friendly reception
for Brock Osweiler who left for greener pastures in Houston
this off season.
At number 4, we have Tom Brady's homecoming.
Through a scheduling quirk, Tom Brady
has never played at San Francisco, the team
he grew up rooting for.
But he will this year.
He's playing there week 11.
So Tom Brady gets to go back to the Bay Area
at the back end of his career, and play against the team he
grew up rooting for.
At number 3, we have Los Angeles' first NFL
game since 1994.
And it's a familiar face to L.A. fans.
Pete Carroll is bringing in the Seattle Seahawks
to play the Los Angeles Rams week 2.
It's the Rams' first home game in Los Angeles,
and Pete Carroll's going to know a little bit
about that stadium.
He coached USC at the L.A. Colosseum for many years.
But the real history here is with the Rams.
The first game in Los Angeles since they left in 1994.
The first game at all for the NFL in Los Angeles in 21 years.
That'll be week 2.
At number 2, we have a rematch of one
of the most heated playoff games in NFL postseason history.
The Cincinnati Bengals travel to play the Pittsburgh
Steelers in week 2.
We all remember last year's game.
Everything got crazy at the end.
A couple personal foul penalties for the Bengals
really blew things.
A lot of bad blood in this rivalry,
even before that playoff game.
After the playoff game, this game
should be one of the most intense of the NFL season.
At number 1, we had no other choice.
It is Super Bowl 50 rematch.
Let's call it Super Bowl 50 1/2, because the Carolina Panthers
are coming to open the season against the Denver Broncos
on Thursday night in week 1.
It's a perfect matchup.
It's very compelling, with Cam Newton
trying to get some revenge against Von Miller and crew.
The Denver Broncos beat the Panthers in that Super Bowl.
And nothing's going to make up for losing that Super
Bowl for the Panthers, but ruining the Broncos party
in week 1 will be a decent consolation
prize for Cam Newton and his teammates.
