Good evening everyone, my name is Mike Marquis (I have some notes here) otherwise known as
the last thing in between everyone and the dance floor and the open bar
They've already given me the microphone so you're stuck with me for a couple of minutes,
I apologize in advance For those of you who don't know me, I first
met Julie our freshman year, we moved onto the same floor in the same dorm at Georgetown
nearly ten years ago. Ten years ag- I'm looking at some of you over there - ten years ago
(IT'S ONLY NINE YEARS) I said nearly - it's an important adverb - I'm sorry to out your
age, Jules but you're married already so we're good to go I think. We're not telling Will
any tales outside of school. Four years later we graduate, we both move
to New York and that's where I first met Will. Since then, I've moved to China, which is
where I live now, and when you live so far away from your friends and your family you
really start to spend a lot of time thinking about the people whose happiness matters to
you the most. And the reason that it matters to you the most is because they are the source
of your happiness - they bring you happiness. Julie, for as long as I can remember you've
been one of those people and of course thanks to you, Will is also one of those people in
my life. You know it's no coincidence that you guys are the first call when I get off
the plane from China. There is a reason why you guys are the first people that I want
to see when I land back in New York. And it's, well it's because
You two, have that voodoo, that only grows with time.
Will saw it from the start, before he stole her heart, a robbery without the crime.
Now I'd be remiss, if I didn't thank the Swiss, interns can have dreams too.
They say, where there's a Will, there's a way, he knew how to woo.
(This is the English portion, by the way) Of course it's no mistake, that Jules too
the cake, in his pursuit of the one. Though she grew on a vine, north of the Mason
Dixon line, her elegance seldom outdone. He finds that inexplicable thing, his life
starts to sing, he's no dummy - he knew. That rare mix of grace, class and beauty - she's
one of the few. Now the knot's been tied, with his lovely
bride, enviable they'll become. He waited long enough, and now we're in the
Buff (hey, Spencer thanks for stealing my joke
last night - where is he?) Pop the bubbly, Bali here they come.
Re-monogram the towels, they've exchanged their vowels, their road here starts anew.
I can't imagine a more perfect pairing, I love ya, I do.
(almost done, I promise) We're all thrilled as hell, to hear wedding
bells, tonight we drink to your love. You found happiness, and now comes the rest,
a life only dreamt of. And nothin' could be finer than to sit and
watch from China, while a life they build for two.
So a full life, a full house, a full glass, my toast to you.
Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer, ladies and gentlemen.
