Bellaire
Bellaire also known as "city of homes" founded in 1908 is located in southwest Harris County,
Texas. In 2010, the area had a population of 16,855.
William Baldwin founded the area to serve as a residential neighborhood and an agricultural
trading center. He came up with the name because of the "Good Air" and the "breezes in the
area." There was also thought that the area was named after the town of Bellaire located
in Ohio since Baldwin was from Ohio.
Bellaire has an independent fire and police departments, zoning, recreation facilities
and parks, and schools. Affluent families increasingly move to the area with the average
house increasing from $75,000 to $500,000 from 1986 to 2006. In 2008, home values increased
to over $1,000,000.
In 2010, the Rubenstein family donated five acres of land that once served as a nursery
to the City of Bellaire for community purposes. This is the largest undeveloped tract in the
city and in the inner loop of the city of Houston where you can do something that can
be used by people from all around the city.
If you are looking for an upscale neighborhood that has all the amenities and centrally located,
to work, school and shopping then Bellaire is the neighborhood for you.
