>> SANDY: Physical activity is the best thing that anybody can do, whether you're suffering
from cancer, or just old age... whatever it is.
The more you can move, the better off you're going to be.
I think when I was diagnosed with my breast cancer, when I found out that I've been
doing the right things, exercising and keeping going... that helped me get through that.
But the chemo, it kind of knocks you down and you don't want to move; you just want
to stay still all the time. And I found with SilverSneakers that it forced me to get up
on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and go to class.
Every week I noticed that I could keep going and keep moving, and that I could keep up
and it was good.
>> HUSBAND: She's a fighter; she really inspired a lot of other people and I think
that's what I like about her. She didn't give up. It takes a lot to get up in the morning
when you're not feeling well, and I understood what she went through.
>> TRAINER: They rally around her and just keep encouraging her. Telling her how happy
they are to see her.
>> SANDY: So the doctor said, when I told him that I was doing SilverSneakers, he asked
me, "What did it involve?" I told him and he said, "Keep it up. Whatever you're
doing, it's working; so just keep going."
>> TRAINER: I think the power of this program is the friendships that they form.
>>SANDY: Well, everybody in the class, they have always been very supportive. "How am I doing?
Can I do anything?" It was important to know that they were on my side.
