The foot placement that you'll need for the switch pivot grind is going to be very similar
to the foot placement needed for just the switch pivot. A few things are going to change
now though because now that you're rolling up the transition switch and you're getting
a small backside, or a switch backside turn in, before you get the grind and this is needed
to get the momentum to grind across the coping, it's going to have to reflect that in your
set up. So one thing that you're going to do is point your toe a little bit forward
just like you did for the switch pivot only now heading up the ramp you're going to put
a little bit more weight on your toe than you did before, and this is because you're
going to be forcing the trick into the grind and traveling across the ramp. Now remember
your other foot is just above your back trucks, or your back set of wheels, when it's time
to come in this is when your foot placement is very important also because to get out
of the switch pivot you're going to put weight on your toe and what this is going to do is
get the other wheel off the top of the ramp and safely in. As you're coming in your back
foot is going to need to make an arch just a bit so that you're able to hold the nose
wheelie that you're going to need to get out and clear those back wheels from the top of
the ramp, or quarter pipe, or whatever you're skating, and that's the proper foot placement
for a switch pivot grind.
