Hey, Chef Kendra here and today we're making one of my favorite desserts as a kid. An American
Classic, the Banana Split.
We're going to start off with the pineapple sauce. We're taking some canned pineapple
chunks, sugar, and some lemon juice and getting that under medium low heat.
We're going to give it a stir from time to time and let it go for 15 minutes. The next
thing we're going to do guys, is to take our emulsion blender and give it a ***.
Once we have the sauce blended well all we're going to do is strain it and get rid of the
solids. Now we have some pretty nice pineapple sauce.
For my 14th birthday my mom had organized a surprise birthday party for me in our back
yard.
We pull up in the driveway and I see people decorating and stuff. She immediately pulls
out of the drive way and drives me to get a banana split to give my family more time
to finish getting set up.
I slowly ate my banana split in the parking lot so they would have plenty of time to get
my party right.
To this day I pretend that I didn't see anything.
We scooped three scoops of ice cream in a bowl, sliced a banana and put one half on
each side of the ice cream then spooned our chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce and pineapple
sauce on one scoop each. We finished with some toasted and chopped almonds.
