So I want to mention about how there was references about the Church of God exploiting its members
financially. In fact, there was an ex member who explained that members are being exploited
and told to empty their bank accounts and told to drop out of school, to give up their
life savings. I just want to say that this is not true. I know of so many members who
have graduated college, while attending the Church of God. I have gone to their graduations.
I myself have a savings account and retirement plan and know of friends and other members
who do as well. I just want to clear up any misconception, that that is not true. The
only type of financial contribution that the Church of God teaches and encourages is about
the teaching of Tithes and Offerings which is in the bible. Just like everything at the
Church of God does, it comes directly from the teachings of the Bible. I just want to
mention that the teaching about tithe and offering something that was taught my entire
life, my childhood growing up, in college, is that it’s something that you should do
as a Christian. So it’s not really anything different from what I was always taught. I
can say though however growing up, I saw there were other situations in churches where there
were ATMs in the church. I know of Churches where they link the checking accounts of their
members to the church account. Even churches charging for bible studies. Charging for baptism,
charging for attending services, or even special events at the church. So I just want to say
as far as the Church of God goes, members are just taught what the Bible teaches about
tithes sand offerings. If any member gave any amount above and beyond this. That was
their own free will choice that they felt compelled or moved to give more based on their
own decision, their own situation. I guess you can say it’s just like any other nonprofit
or organization in which, if you believe in something enough than. There are organizations
that are funded just based on people’s contributions. And if you believe enough in a certain organization
you’re going to contribute to it. You want to be a part of it. You want to support it.
So this is the same with this particular topic. I don’t understand why they are expressing
untrue statements about financially exploiting the members of the Church of God, it’s completely
wrong and I just wanted to touch on that.
