This video shows how to print using your Windows 8 tablet and an HP Jetdirect 2800w NFC, or
Near Field Communication, enabled printer. In this video we demonstrate the steps using
the HP Elite Pad 900 and the HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow MFP M830 printer.
Before beginning, the HP Jetdirect 2800w NFC and Wireless Direct Accessory must be installed
on your printer. We will not give those instructions in this video.
If you have not already done so, verify your HP printer is ready to print using HP
Jetdirect 2800w NFC/Wireless Direct Accessory. Make sure the printer is in the Ready state.
Print the configuration pages from the control panel to confirm that NFC and HP Wireless
Direct printing are enabled on the printer. If a page titled Wireless is included, then
NFC and HP Wireless Direct printing are enabled. Make sure that the latest version of HP ePrint
Software is installed on your Windows 8 tablet. It should be version 4.5 or newer.
Note: ARM-based tablets running Windows RT are not supported.
Next, set up the wireless connection on your tablet so it can connect to the Wireless Direct
Accessory. It is important to know where the WiFi antenna
is located on your wireless device so that you can align it correctly with the Jetdirect
2800w NFC during the initial connection process. Verify that your device's wireless capability
is enabled. This is typically found in the Settings menu.
You must disconnect from any existing wireless connection (wireless LAN or Internet) to print
using the NFC. From your tablet's application, select the
File menu, and then select Print.
From the list of available printers, select HP ePrint.
Next, closely align or touch the HP Jetdirect 2800w NFC icon and your tablet's antenna.
They must be within 1 inch or 2.5 cm of each other.
Hold your tablet on or near the HP Jetdirect 2800w for at least one full second.
The tablet might make a connection sound or display a pop-up symbol.
Once a connection is established, the HP ePrint Software displays the HP wireless direct printer's
name. Tap the Settings button to define basic print
options such as the number of copies, pages per sheet, and printing on one or both sides
(also known as duplex). Tap Print.
Your print job will be sent to the printer. Note: HP ePrint Software saves the printer
to your recently used printers list located on the Recent tab.
You may select Automatically print upon successful connection, so that future print jobs will
print automatically when you touch your tablet to the HP printer. If this option is selected
the Settings option will not be not available. For additional information about HP ePrint
