hi Facebook friends it's Michelle coming
to you live tonight and I wanted to talk
to you today about why you should want
to be adaptable so if you're joining the
replay thanks so much for joining the
conversation feel free to participate in
the comments as you watch and as you're
coming in live please drop your name in
where you're coming in from so I can say
hi so here's the thing no matter what we
do some place in our life were a leader
right no matter no matter what so some
place in your life your leader whether
it's in your family as a parent or maybe
an aunt or an uncle maybe an older
sibling at your work you know whether
you're an employee or business owner or
a supervisor a manager at your church in
recreational activities somewhere you're
a leader and being adaptable is an
important valuable leadership trait to
possess so that's what we're going to
talk about tonight thanks so much for
joining and for those of you who don't
know me my name is Michelle and I am a
twin mom and a wellness coach and I love
empowering people to do things that they
thought were impossible so tonight we're
going to empower you to be more
adaptable so let's just jump right in so
first we'll define adaptability so the
book the Platinum rule describes
adaptability as containing two
components the first is flexibility and
the second is versatility so flexibility
that's your attitude that is your
willingness to change and versatility is
your ability your ability right are you
capable of change so if we dig a little
deeper within these two components there
are some characteristics or attributes
that are associated to being
to being high characteristic so for
flexibility there are five attributes of
being highly flexible and these five are
the first one is confidence right that
you trust yourself the second is
tolerance that you're open and accepting
to what other people feel and the third
empathy so this is you know i can put
myself in your shoes i can feel what you
feel and as you're doing it in drop your
name in the comments where you're coming
in from tonight we're talking about
adaptability and we're in on the ten
characteristics of adaptability so we're
talking about confidence tolerance
empathy the first three then number 4 is
positive pneus I think that's
self-explanatory number five is I'm
having respect for others so this is
what your sincere desire to understand
other people like their needs and their
choices and shared values so the other
five attributes are related to the
second part of adaptability which is
versatility so these five attributes of
versatility are resilient right this is
your emotional strength think about the
quote you know you get knocked down
seven times and get back up aight the
second under versatility is vision so
being able to imagine and be creative
and to be able to sit just alternatives
i know i've done a video on vision so
you can catch that back in the archives
number three is attentiveness so this is
when you are aware of the elements in
your environment number four under
versatility is competence and this is on
your expertise or problem solving and
the fifth is self correction so this is
where you ask for feedback and you place
value on problem solving and not on
being right so that is the ten
characteristics I have adaptability I'll
go through them one more time confidence
tolerance empathy positiveness respect
for others and that is all part of being
flexible and then the next five are part
of being a versatile so the next five
resilience vision attentiveness
competence and self correction so a
quick summary for those of us those of
you who are joining here in the middle
of the broadcast so drop in the comments
some likes or some love some hearts if
you're getting some value from this
topic so far some nuggets and next we're
going to talk about why you should care
about being adaptable so there's a
couple key points that I want to
highlight the first is that you will be
happier and more satisfied in life right
so with our um I can't read my writing
so being adaptable helps us to be
happier more satisfied and it's our
ability to be happy and to have good
relationships is dependent on being
adaptable so this means not feeling
hopeless and not feeling helpless in the
face of change but instead being
adaptable so if you recognize that you
have the skills and ability to change
yourself even if you can't
change the situation you have figured
out that that is the key to being happy
regardless of the circumstances that you
can change your attitude right so the
other thing that being adaptable can
help you with is to bounce back more
quickly from adversity I know we all
have had bad things that happen to us in
our life and if you're adaptable you can
take the adversity and stride and you
can adjust your thoughts and adjust your
expectations to suits the new reality
right to to suit what you're dealing
with versus dwelling on the thoughts of
what could have been or what should have
been or what if this or what if that so
it really can help you to embrace being
adaptable so that you can bounce back
from adversity more quickly and then
being adaptable it really means that
you're being resilient right and being
resilient will take you so far in life I
have a proverb here I want to share with
you and it says the wise adapt
themselves to circumstances as water
moulds itself to the picture so being
adaptable means you're changing yourself
to accommodate the circumstances and it
means that you'll be spending less time
trying to change the circumstances right
like I think that's so powerful spending
less time trying to change the
circumstances drop it to in the comments
if you've ever spent time trying to
change circumstances and then realize
like oh boy this isn't going to change
the only way it's going to change as if
I change the way I think about it I'm
going to grab a drink
so if you embrace being adaptable you'll
spend less time trying to change the
circumstances and you'll spend more time
adjusting your own attitude and your own
expectations another quote for you that
resonates on this topic is from Jim Rohn
and he says life and business are like
the changing seasons you can't change
the season but you can change you so
with that that's all the Nuggets I have
for you tonight about being adaptable
the ten characteristics and why you
should want to be adaptable if you got
some value please feel free share and
like comment on the broadcast here I
would love to hear from you what's your
biggest take away with this topic and of
course thank you for tuning in and I
just really want to encourage you to get
out there and make a difference for
yourself be embracing adaptability and
the ten characteristics of being
adaptable um to really set yourself up
for success so guys thanks for joining
