So another thing in terms of the Galamian violin technique is with your harmonics. In
some schools you learned that when playing a harmonic it really should be, your fingers
should be more kind of flat or maybe slightly more rounded, but really you're looking at
just the Galamian technique you do find that a lot of the time he wants you to stretch
your fourth finger so it's taught in a way that your fourth finger is supposed to be
more straight. I think this makes a lot of sense, especially when you are just reaching
up to play that harmonic. By having your finger rounded you still get the sound out, but I
think you actually get more of a ringing sound the other way. And then of course letting
your other fingers kind of float above it, not letting them interfere at all. So when
you're playing your harmonic, you know he really stressed the importance of keeping
your fingers up in the air like that.
