Soc 1130_welcome!

Hi! I'm Jackie Austin, the Professor for this course, Soc 1130: Family and Society. Just wanted to a quick hello, put a face to the name, and welcome you to the course. We're going to be talking about the family, which I really love; it's an exciting topic to me. Hopefully the textbook won't be too dry but you'll get an idea about how sociologists study family. We'll come up across some controversial topics but hopefully I'll be able to frame those discussions in a way that will make everyone comfortable to talk. The class is going to be a lot work...but a lot of fun...I hope...for you. I'll look forward to "seeing" you online. Take care.
