Alright, now check this out. Intel has been working on some really, really cool stuff.
That is gonna to kinda change the way you watch television a little bit.
And is going on right back here.
I'm sitting here with Sanjay. What's up Sanjay? - Alright so, welcome to Intel digital home group.
What we are trying to do here is basically create a much more rich experience
of users' interface with the television, pretty much on what we've done previously with PCs.
What you see on this TV is surfing the channels.
A lot of us sit at home, on our sofas then we flip channels around.
Yeah, one channel at a time. You can see one channel and that's it.
And that hasn't changed for years. It has been pretty much the same.
You also have an experience of working on the players like the IPhone, IPod, etc.
Where you see these pictures moving around in a carousel.
Those are JPEG5 that we move around.
What we've done is a similar concept, so you can actually see the videos around.
But in this case, what we've done is, actually we've taken the full videos on to it
and actually then flipping them around. So while you see one, you can actually see the other 2.
So the decoder chip in this is actually able to decode multiple streams at one time.
So what we have inside is Intel CE3100, which is our media processor.
It is our first Intel architecture based SOC, or System On Chip.
In fact, one of the few things this processor can do, beside the fact that it's powered
by an Intel Pentium M core, it also has very high speed memory,
and it also has multiple decoding. It can decode multiple channels at the same time.
So it can get signals off the multiple decodes. For example,
like 2 high definition channels at the same time.
So not only can we see this sort of carousel type view,
you can throw up 4 channels in each corner and watch them all at the same time. - Absolutely.
Without having to have an extra TV tuner. - Well, again depends on what you want to do.
So, there are different ways of implementing it. You can do it by TV tuner,
or you can split the frames and you can actually move the channels around.
So again, those are few implementations that you can work around.
But what it shows is that this kind of a viewing experience or a rich experience
is now available, which is brought to you by Intel.
And things are gonna start looking a lot cooler on our TV screens very soon.
Hopefully it's gonna be much more rich and a nice experience when you flip channels like I do.
I never watch a whole show all the way through. Alright Sanjay, thank you very much, appreciate it
Enjoy the rest of Intel. - Right on.
