Let's check in with our news team to see what some of our friends had to say
about homecoming. Hey Del Oro, it's about that time of year if you know what I mean.
And if you don't, well, I'll tell you what she means.
It's time to be brave and ask that special somenone to homecoming.
I was playing football and after the very
biggest game of the year
all the Del Oro fans rushed the field, one of them was my girlfriend at the time, who is
now my wife
and she rushed the field
I got down on my knees
and immediately asked her. She was so excited I think she would have said yes to anything.
She agreed an we went to homecoming together.
Interesting story. I was going to ask one young nice lady to prom, or homecoming,
and another girl asked me
before I had the chance to ask, so I'm such a nice guy that I decided to go with the girl that asked me to homecoming instead.
Now, some of you might be scared or nervous or just have no idea how to ask. So we're here to help.
We've created a list of things to do...
... and things not ot do.
Tip numero uno.
The best way to impress your lady.
Two words:
flowers and chocolate.
No need to explain.
Tip number two.
Keep it classy.
Meaning?
Meaning, dress up for the occassion, it may sound simple, but changing out of your
sweaty work out clothes and into a button down shirt and bow-tie
can let your date know you're serious. Tip number three.
Now, some of you may be planning on asking your long time boyfriend or girlfriend so you might be under a little more pressure
to do something special.
But that doesn't mean you have to buy her the world.
Getting something like jewlery or even a stuffed animal can remind your loved one why
you're together in the first place.
Tip number four. Now, every asking your date seems to become more of a competition to
see who can out do everyone else. This causes some of the biggest mistakes in date asking history. Do not.
Do not. Be stupid.
If your date is a little on the shy side don't ask her in front of the whole school.
It's just common sense.
Last, and final, tip.
In case you didn't know there's a fine line between outgoing and embarrassing.
Make sure you're sincere, and
you're from the heart. As long
as you do that everything will work out great.
Don't do it
through a text.
Don't do it over the phone.
Definitely make it,
you know, in person. Make
it mean something.
Again, know your audience.
If it's someone who's shy maybe do it one on one. Or if it's someone who's outgoing
and fun
match it.
Just have a good time with it and
if you ask you have a 50:50 chance, if you don't ask then it's
100% no.
I would say just
make it special, you know,
do something a little bit creative
and unique.
Make sure that
you guys
know exactly what you're going to do that day and
just have a good time and
be safe.
I don't know about everyone else, but I can't wait for this week.
With all this excitement don't forget about the parade taking place October 5th
on Taylor Road after school.
Before we get crazy about homecoming
remember your varsity football team is playing James Logan tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
Represent that good old black and gold.
October is breast cancer awarenss month here at Del Oro. We like to support those
who have fought or are currently fighting breast cancer.
The student store will be selling this year's breast cancer awareness T-Shirts for
$15.
Starting tomorrow at the football game.
In other news, college night is tonight starting at 5:30 p.m. so bring your parents
and make sure to keep an open mind.
The eggplant festival is on October 6th in the heart of Loomis. So make sure you can
go and check it out.
But if you're more of the indoors type there are a few great movies for you to go
see.
Yeah I heard House at the End of the Street and Finding Nemo are great.
I hate scary movies. Finding Nemo's not scary.
Well...too bad.
Coming out this weekend is a new comedy: Pitch Perfect.
I would sing, but your ears might bleed. This is true.
Well that's all we have for this week eagles. Thanks for watching. I'm Lida Landre. And I'm Jansen Engelbrecht.
And you...
stay golden eagles!
