The arena is calling, "An expert explains a technique",
friends of the audience here or in front of their TV,
it is now time for our today's section about
about learning Kaimen BajiQuan !
Standing on our fighting ring
our highly respected Wu LianZhi,
Prof Wu, how are you ?
Wu LianZhi, courtesy named "HongHe"
from MengCun village, Hebei province,
7th generation inheritor of BajiQuan.
Prof. Wu, what kind of Baji conditioning exercise
will you share with us right now ?
I will explain one last exercise :
it is called JinDanDao.
The word Jin (i.e. saliva) in what is called JinDanDao
is the Jin of the ancient words "JinJin-YuYe" (name of 2 acupuncture points),
it refers to the saliva secreted in the mouth cavity,
and the word Dan (i.e. cinnabar) is refering to
the refined elixir of immortality
used in the ancient Daoism school.
The last word Dao
has the meaning of "method".
The elixir of immortality does not exist,
but people should refine their own JinDan.
Refining the human saliva, this is called JinDan (saliva elixir)
The human saliva has such a great effect ?
Yes ! When you practice this exercise,
during the course of the exercise,
the tip of the tongue should press on the RenZhong point.
It should keep pressing during the whole process ?
Yes, press on the RenZhong acupuncture point.
Ok ...
The exercise looks like that ...
Slightly spread the thighs,
raise the two hands like this,
When practicing the JingDanDao method
just presented by Mr Wu LianZhi,
it must be stressed all along that
the tip of the tongue should press on the RenZhong point.
We know that the RenZhong point
is the communication area between the 2 meridians
RenMai and DuMai of the human body.
When doing the exercise, what function does it have
to press this point with the tip of the tongue ?
Let us hear what is the analysis
of prof. Fu GuoBing
from the Beijing University of Chinese medecine.
As a matter of fact, RenMai & DuMai
are 2 extremely important energy channels on the human body,
they can command 12 meridians.
Look at Dumai meridian, where does it stop ?
DuMai stops at a point
located at the top of the upper lip dimple,
called the alveolar-ridge point,
just at the top of the upper lip dimple, the alveolar ridge.
Our RenMai meridian, where does it start ?
It starts from the ChengJiang point.
Then the problem arises
about linking them up.
The problem arises
about linking up RenMai & DuMai.
How can it be done ?
Usually when we practice some basic exercises,
the tip of the tongue must keep pressing the upper jaw,
this is called QueQiao (Magpie bridge)
when building the QueQiao bridge with the tongue,
there is free connection between RenMai & DuMai.
Therefore we can say that their connection
has a great impact on the connection
of the meridians of the whole body.
Huh, after getting down,
it generates some saliva in your mouth.
this saliva should not be spitted out,
it's not correct,
you have to swallow it down.
Yet, practicing JinDanDao
helps people to delay senility.
Ooooooh !
This is a very scientific thing !
It has a scientific basis ?
Yes it has a scientific basis !
The modern medecine thinks that
the saliva contains some kind of substance
called the parotid gland hormone,
this hormone can increase the vitality
of muscles, blood vessels, skeleton and other organs,
and especially strenghten the elasticity of blood vessels,
and thus it has the effect of prolonging life.
As a matter of fact, the saliva of the mouth cavity
is our essential substance,
it is a substance metabolizing the Qi in the human body.
Generally speaking, one can use the tip of the tongue,
and turn inside the mouth,
then slowly swallow down the saliva
in a few fractions.
Practicing this exercise regularly,
can protect us from a few diseases.
Protect from what ?
There is at present a disease called
"Sjögren's syndrome" :
disease-prone group : 40-50 y. old, major symptoms : mouth & eye dryness
affected organs : exocrine glands, sickness cause : unknown
If we practice this exercise regulalrly,
it prevents the appearance of this disease.
When ordinarily practicing JinGangDao,
apart from the 2 essential points we have just mentioned :
pressing with the tongue on the upper jaw,
and swallowing the saliva,
one must pay attention to the breathing coordination :
when raising up the hands,
one must inhale slowly,
when the hands have reached the highest level,
inhale to full capacity,
when the 2 hands start going down,
start to exhale,
when the hands reach the RenZhong area,
keep 60% of the air in the thymus gland area,
then exhale the remaining air
along with the final power release (FaLi).
Of course, if you ordinarily don't have the time
to practice entirely the JinDandao exercise,
it is also suitable to practice
only these two exercises :
pressing the tongue on the upper jaw
and swallowing the saliva.
it will also be a great benefit for your health.
