The quote that always comes to mind when I think about writing on the wall is by an educator called Maura Cullen and it's, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words can scar a life time." I hope today's event is an opportunity for folks to both reflect on the negative aspects of the words on this wall, but also liberating for those who able to write some of these words and finally claim some of the names they've been called and the identities that have been attacked for them. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Pull! Everything we do on this campus makes a change for either the better or the worse. And while we may think that big events are the only answer, it's the small things we do every single day that make the biggest impact on our community. I would challenge you to think about the words because our thoughts become our words, our words become our actions, and our actions impact our world. Think about what you say, think about the power of your words, think about how can you make somebody's day different.
