We’re stressing the importance of this ‘Triple Aim’ idea that we need better care, better
health and lower cost at the same time. Better care we can get done through the care system
and that can also participate in reducing costs but we need the public health community
really mobilized around achieving better health -- how to do that in an environment of decreasing
resources when the customer of public health is a little more vague. That’s a very tough
problem, and I’m trying to outline what I think are some of the obstacles and challenges
for public health to remain vibrant in an era of integrated care cost reduction.
