We're at Malibu Creek....STOP!!
We're at Malibu....STOP!!!!!!
This is our Auto Club Southern California Day Trip to Calabasas.
We're at Malibu Creek State Park.
There are 15 miles of streamside trails through oak and sycamore woodlands on chaparral covered slopes.
The park was the center of Chumash Native American life for centuries and was once used to film numerous
movies and TV shows, such as Planet of the Apes and M*A*S*H.
I spy a bird house!
We are approaching the creek.
Baby is dipping his hands in the cold water
and chasing after me.
We're continuing our hike.
And we reached a really scenic spot.
We had so much fun at Malibu Beach State Park.
Please search www.parks.ca.gov for more information.
We're at the King Gillette Ranch.
This 588 acre parkland features a 1938 Spanish colonial revival style mansion.
Too bad it's not open to the public.
For more info about this place, please search nps.gov.
Now we're going to the Visitor Center.
This place covers the history and wildlife of the Santa Monica Mountains.
Today we're going to join the Junior Ranger Program.
We have to complete a series of activities to earn our badge.
I am climbing through a tunnel.
You can learn a lot through the interactive displays here.
We're getting a stamp of our visit in the passport.
And lastly, I am sworn in as a Junior Ranger.
And I got my first badge.

This is our Passport 2 History adventure to the Leonis Adobe.
Built in 1844, this is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the San Fernando Valley
The property includes a blacksmith shop, barn and ranch animals, and an 1875 Victorian house
that was transported from its original location in West Hollywood.
The museum boasts the original adobe brick house owned by Miguel Leonis,
a Basque settler who once controlled much of the Western San Fernando Valley in the late 1800's.
We're entering the kitchen, the floor is covered with dirt.
The cellar is the coldest part of the house, and that is where they keep the food that needs to be refrigerated.
Now we're going upstairs.
This bed reminds me of a circus tent.
We had a fun time at the Leonis Adobe Museum.
We even got a stamp in our passport.
You can get your booklet at www.passport2history.com.
Plan your visit here at www.leonisadobemuseum.org.
