Hi my name is Hester Lox. I am a Professional Organizer based in the San Francisco Bay area.
People ask how I became a Professional Organizer. My story is pretty typical of many people
which is I had a completely different career but friends who knew I was pretty organized
asked me to help them. In my case a friend called and said okay I haven't seen my kitchen
table in 16 years and I'm ready to see it, help. I had the table cleared off in two minutes,
not organized but cleared off so we could organize it and make a work space. Pretty
much most people get into this field in an organic manner. As a result coming from related
fields sometimes like business management and sometimes in the corporate world, from
interior design and decorating there is many facets of this work that lead you to realize
hey I'm really good at organizing. Some people come from being house cleaners where they
find they're doing a lot more than cleaning and people appreciate it. You almost always
start small, you may even have a job before you even know your business name and you start
to get referrals from the people you work with, another route to getting clients like
any self employed field is being a member of a professional organization. More people
are coming into this field as the field of professional organizing gets to not only be
better known but appreciated. We're a relatively new professional and it's growing fast because
the world is bringing so much at us that it is cluttering our lives. I have built my business
over 16 years and it's been very helpful to me to have been a member of a national association
that provides ongoing education. That's basically how you get into this field. Some version
from starting from something else you were doing that you know you were really good at.
Again my name is Hester Lox and I am a Professional Organizer in the San Francisco Bay area.
