-Hello.
I'm Cheri Irwin.
The famous baby and dog on the beach, that's me.
The world's most famous rear end.
That's what I've been called.
The whole idea was created to have a playful scene
with a baby on the beach and exposing
a little bit of a tan line.
So my mother did the artwork.
What I remember about that day was that I was outside standing
on a table-- it was a hot, sunny summer afternoon--
and they were taking pictures of me.
And it was just me posing, trying
to get that look of the baby being startled by the dog.
Mom, she was always using anyone-- from myself,
my father, neighbors, friends.
Question that most people ask about me being
the Coppertone baby is, they want to know
if we got paid a lot of money.
And the answer to that is that my mother got
paid one time in 1959 to do the ad.
And once she sells all rights to the artwork,
then it belongs to them and we're done.
So that's all the money that transacted
for that particular job.
Mom had quite the list of commercial art work.
She was a regular illustrator for Sports Afield magazine.
There was a lot of traveling.
Like with the Sports Afield trips,
we literally got to come do wild boar hunting in Florida.
My dad would write the articles sometimes
and mom would be the one that drew, actually,
the drama on the scene that went on as the hunters caught
the wild boar.
My mother, in addition, she was really well known
for her pin-ups of the 1940s.
She was considered one of the top 10 pin-up artists.
And her work is still featured on the internet today.
My mother passed away in May of 2006,
and then my sister passed away the following year.
I had to dig deep and come up with an understanding
of sometimes how our journey is for a reason.
And it brings us through it, to be stronger,
or maybe to help someone else in the future.
So I've dedicated the last five years of my life studying
neuroscience and meditation.
I think the way that mom and I are going to continue to create
the legacy of Coppertone story and of her artwork
is through a print that we created together.
It's limited edition, collectible lithographs.
She signed approximately 1,000 of them.
I think the future is great.
I love life every day.
I'm thankful for what I have now,
and I stay ready for the next opportunity
that may come its way.
But right now, I'm very happy right where I am.
