Ski area Gastein valley
The ski area Schlossalm - Angertal - Stubnerkogel belongs to the ski area union “Ski amadé”
and forms the largest connected ski terrain in the Gastein valley. From the motorway A10
the area is easily reached within approx. 45 minutes by car. You can even drive through
the Kitzbühel Alps coming from Kufstein and that way avoid paying road fees.
Between altitudes of 860 and 2,300 metres you can find all kinds of pistes available:
be it the soft slopes for beginners and families, right up to magnificent powder snow slopes
and touring routes. Access to this grand ski area is possible both from Bad Gastein, as
well as from Bad Hofgastein.
The moment you get off the Stubenerkogel lift you will find a splendid area opening up to
you, especially attractive for nature-loving adventurers and ski variant fans looking for
a spectacular panorama view.
But wallowers will find themselves similarly favoured with an extensive offer of 205 kilometres
of piste, accessible via 42 lift systems. This area is known to be one of the most beautiful
ski areas in the Salzburger Land.
Due to the impressive altitude (up to 2,650 metres) and the numerous and modern snow-making
systems, skiing on perfect snow is mostly possible here until way into spring. Good
stamina is required on the over 10 kilometre long piste from Hohe Scharte to Bad Hofgastein.
1,500 metres altitude difference however can also be managed by the lesser experienced
winter sports fans.
Beginners can find fantastic wide pistes in the entire ski area, which help with getting
familiar with winter sports. A more challenging piste can be found at the Graukogel, which
eventually phases into the black FIS run. But also deep powder snow areas with great
ski routes, such as those on the Schlossalm, are available for pros.
Two snow parks can be found at the Stubnerkogel and Kreuzkogel and provide best conditions
for freestylers to burn off steam. The flood-lit piste at the Stubnerkogel is perfect for trying
out night skiing.
In total the Gastein valley offers 4 perfectly connected ski terrains, with a multitude of
varied level skiing in the areas “Dorfgastein-Großarltal“ and “Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel“,
“Graukogel“ and “Sportgastein”.
