I wanted to be a nurse because I just really care for people.
It comes very naturally. I really like to be there
for people and just be a good friend and
taking care of people has always been a part of me, I say my "caring genes"
I have, of course, done clinicals, I've done classes,
I've made friends, I've made friends with the teachers.
I am actually currently a new member of a diversity
group where were trying to spread the word and importance of diversity.
I have a nursing ambassador. A nursing ambassador basically
invites perspective students into the school, and we try and give them
opinions from seniors about time management,
and we're just, i guess you could say, mentor. My experience
in a Living/Learning community was a very positive one. It was definitely a motivator
because you'd have friends in your classes, that while watching T.V., they're
still in the books, and they're studying for the tests coming up.
I found it very import to say "ok, let me take out my
books and start studying as well". The nursing program, they
did tell us at the very beginning, "before you graduate, you're definitely gonna
see how everything in cyclical, and all the information will
touch each other and come back around. When I first started, I really didn't understand what that meant,
but now as a graduating senior, I can definitely see what they meant.
All the information has come back around to me, and I
feel so much more enabled to critical think
and try and understand a patient scenario, and I definitely feel
like the school has provided that for me.
