I am Giulia Mazzer, designer of the brand Giulia Rien à Mettre
The brand is quite new, it started about an year and a half ago
It is the first real ecological Italian brand
Italy was my first marketplace
Some shops were enthusiastic about it
Sincerly I have to tell you that the "eco" tag
Sometimes is considered a plus
But sometimes it is quite scary for Italian buyers
On the contrary, in foreign countries, they are generally more aware about this
Maybe because this trend started sometimes earlier
For istance, this morning came a buyer from a shop in Bolzano [Trentino Alto Adige]
Who was very interested in my dresses
It is also to be said that fashion
Despite of other business sectors like food or agriculture
That started converting to bio a long time ago
Same could be said for the green energy business
The truth is fashion is made of dreams
So fashion designers should create dreams
People are not concerned about the production process of dreams
One of the most powerful means of communication for my brand
is publishing: magazines, newspapers and so on
For example Vogue started a new section of its site
Devoted to ethical fashion and eco brands
Also Marieclaire dedicated to it an issue in February
This kind of communication is paramount as it is very popular
I have a blog, although I don't have time enough to manage it
I do everything from choosing fabrics to designing models...
We have MADE IN ITALY certificate
Every dress delivered to shops has a specific tag
Showing a tracking code that can be used trhough an online tool
To check where the textile of your dress comes from
Where exactly it has been manufactured etc
I think this makes my collection different
My source of inspiration is constantly changing
I like movies, especially old ones, black-and-white filmed
I think the Nouvelle Vague has been one of the most influent periods on style
Characters were so classy A timeless elegance
Often they say I am sort of a nostalgic person
Nowadays it is quite a mess here and there
Everything is so over-valued and over-produced
I think all this might be slightly excessive
