Welcome to the Mitsubishi Electric Automation headquarters located in Vernon Hills, USA.
Today, we will guide you through a virtual tour of our showroom to introduce a variety
of Industrial Automation products and platforms.
First of all, let us look at our Human Machine Interfaces - the GOT 1000 series. There are
many different classes of terminals ranging from the large more advanced GT16 series,
down to the smaller much simpler GT10 display types. Terminals are available in a wide range
of sizes from 15 inches to 3.5 inches, resolutions and formats.
The FX Series can be broken down into four different CPU categories
The FX3U series is our top of the line controller that’s fully expandable and can support
up to 384 I/O. The FX3UC Series is our compact version for
smaller applications. The FX3G is our midrange micro controller
for application under 256 I/O while FX1S is ideal for applications less that 30 I/O points
The Alpha2 controller is designed to address simple control applications at the lower end
of the industrial markets. Having a straightforward programming style and built-in display, the
Alpha 2 is a highly affordable.
The Q Series is the original multi-CPU system, with up to 4 CPUs to divide-and-conquer larger
applications. It provides scalable automation solutions to both small and very large systems,
offering a broad spectrum of automation capabilities. The Q Series platform allows users to mix
and match their required control system. They can choose from a range of CPU types, I/O
options, network communication modules and the corresponding Power supplies and assemble
them into this green Base Unit, which allows high speed communication between all of the
modules.
Here's a solution configuration. With one master system, we can bridge a factory floor
containing multiple provider applications through DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, Modbus and the
like.
Mitsubishi collaberated with SICK to provide a fully safe solution for OEMs. In this example,
if someone tries to access the area between the two light curtains where the motor is
rotating, the Sick sensors will issue an interrupt command, generating an error in the PLC in
order to stop the entire operation.
The MELSEC Process Control and Redundant solution ensures reliable and continuous operation
through controller error or failure. The standby system takes over automatically and smoothly,
without skipping a step, assuring continued production and efficiency.
Mitsubishi’s A700 Series Drives use Real Sensorless Vector technology to enhance speed
and torque control without an encoder. Our Easy gain tuning feature can automatically
compensate for load inertia changes.
Our VFD drives are divided into four series. A700 with an embedded PLC, F700 with advanced
PID, as well as the E700 and D700, which provide more economical solutions.
VFD options and Accessories
There are a variety of options you can choose to expand your VFD functionality.
Our Network options allow connectivity to a range of open networks such as CC-Link,
PROFIBUS, DeviceNet, LonWorks, and EtherNet/IP to name a few.
Our General Options include additional digital Inputs and outputs, AC control input, along
with additional analog and encoder interface boards and relay output options.
Furthermore, Peripheral Options for the VFDs include an Alpha numeric LCD keypad, Panel
mount keypad, configuration software, Dynamic brake resistor, and dynamic brake unit
Mitsubishi provides two types of modules for servo control; Motion controllers and Positioning
controllers. The Q172D, Q173D and QD75MH modules are integrated units as part of the Q series
platform. Synchronizing three Q173d modules, we can control up to 96 axes.
The following is a demo of a flying shear, using the MR-MQ100 controller. First, we are
homing the pointer. As we turn it on, the pointer will track one of the white dots and
follows it. The MR-MQ100 is designed to be the performance leader for single axis and
1.5 axis control. Intuitive software makes implementation of encoder following, CAM profiles,
registration mark synchronization and even servo axis tuning very easy and quick.
The Q170MCPU, in addition, is a standalone motion controller with a built-in PLC, and
can serve up to 16 axes.
The MR-J3 has raised the bar for servo speed and performance, with a capacity range from
50W to 55kW. Mitsubishi has reduced the size of both the amplifier and motor, added a high
resolution encoder, advanced auto-tuning, as well as vibration control. The J3's high
torque motor can operate at up to 6000 rpm, with a speed frequency response of 2.1 kHz.
J3's high resolution encoder is mounted as a standard to provide stability even at low
speeds.
CC-Link (Control & Communication Link) is a field network designed to meet diverse needs
in industrial automation. It provides a cost effective way of reducing wiring costs for
discrete devices.
The Packaged Solutions Group of Mitsubishi Electric Automation produces value added custom
engineered system solutions that provide our customers with a lower total cost of ownership.
We utilize all Mitsubishi engineering and product resources and partner with third parties
to increase the sale of Mitsubishi Products. Packaged Solutions is located in the Midwest
region, and we also have several manufacturing locations across the United States.
Mitsubishi’s sophisticated technologies enable advanced machining controls, and support
manufacturers seeking the best accuracy and productivity.
This is the MDS-D series, an advanced Drive system for the ultimate In-Servo Performance.
The Mitsubishi CNC 700 series is designed to provide productivity and operating comfort.
The 700 series features nano-control technology to meet the needs of a new era, and also incorporates
an original high-speed servo network. The 700 series continues to deliver world-class
specifications and optimum performance to users. The new Mitsubishi CNC series opens
new horizons of productivity, leading you to the next level of success.
