Ok, so this movie has had one heck of ride to get here. When Marvel first announced it,
everyone was like, “who?” Then some pictures and casting and trailers came out and everyone
was like, “Oh, it’s that talking squirrel.” And now, here we are. This has the potential
to be the best or the worst Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. But, which is it? *intro*
Before we begin: SPOILER ALERT. If you haven’t seen the movie, what are you waiting for?
Go watch it! So Guardians of the Galaxy is the first non-sequel
movie Marvel has done in 3 years. And, I’m just gonna be honest, it might be the best
Marvel movie that’s been made in 3 years. Well, almost.
So, the movie starts off with an 8 year old kid called Peter Quill, whose mother dies
in front of him. He runs away and is abducted by a group of space-pirates led by this guy
whose name is Yondu. 26 years later, Quill steals a super-powerful artifact and is ambushed
by soldiers of Ronan, who is this evil-conqueror servant of Thanos. Thanos is the evil Titan
who is the most powerful being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anyway, Quill gets away
with it and is chased by Yondu, who he kind of left/abandoned. Quill is attacked by a
mysterious woman called Gamora on Xandar. Gamora was a servant of Ronan and an adopted
child of Thanos, but she had plans to betray him. Anyway, she wants the stone because she
can sell it to a guy called the Collector, who’s a little crazy. Then, a genetically
modified racoon called Rocket and his travelling muscle, a talking walking tree called Groot,
also attack Quill because he has a bounty on him. They all are sent to jail where they
kind of bond in a prison break. Along the way they pick up Drax the Destroyer, whose
wife and daughter were killed by Ronan, so he just really wants to kill him. Oh, and
he’s kind of dumb. Anyway, basically the Guardians are now assembled,
and after a bunch of other space-adventures and speeches and such, the Guardians finally
end up taking down Ronan, with the help of Yondu and the people who arrested them at
the beginning, called, The Nova Corps. In the process, Groot is killed saving them,
but it is seen that he starts growing back. The Guardians fly off, and finished. Oh and
there’s also an end-credits scene of course. I hoped there would be something about Age
of Ultron in there, but with a movie that was this funny, they were also just going
to make the end-credits scene funny. And in the most surprising appearance of all time:
Howard the Duck? Yep, Howard the Duck, in a brief 5 second cameo as one of the Collector’s
treasures. Pretty awesome. So anyway, I loved this movie. I was really
excited for it, but I was quite nervous that I would be disappointed. At the start of the
movie, when his mom died, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it, but then it was just
so awesome from there. The best part of the movie was that it was hilarious. I knew it
was going to be funny, but I didn’t think it was going to be this funny. I was just
laughing basically all the way. Then there were the more emotional moments, like when
Groot dies saving them all. Its not like I cried, but it was pretty sad. The action was
awesome, with all the lasers and space ships and knifes and punching and everything. And
finally, the characters. All the characters were awesome. Peter Quill, aka Star Lord was
hilarious. Gamor was really awesome, especially in a fight. Groot and Rocket made great partners,
and Rocket was maybe my favorite of the bunch. Groot was also really sweet, and I loved how
all he could say is, I am Groot. It was great. And finally Drax was really great in a fight
and everything but he was overall just hilarious because he was so dumb. My only slight gripe
with the movie was Ronan. Yeah, he was bad, but this is a complaint I have with Marvel
in general. Besides Loki, all their villains are super-evil but in the end kind of forgettable.
Case and point, Malekith the Dark Elf from Thor 2. And it’s a little frustrating that
you know Thanos, the evil Titan of evilness is out there and they aren’t trying to take
him down. They kind of have to go through Ronan to get to the real boss fight.
But this is a pretty minor complaint. I’m going to be honest, I liked this movie as
much as Captain America the Winter Soldier, I liked this movie as much as X-Men Days of
Future Past. And in the end I give Guardians of the Galaxy a 9.8 out of ten. If you like
superheroes, you’ll love it. If you like action, you’ll love it. If you like comedy
you’ll love it. And if you just like good movies, you’ll most likely love it. There’s
something in this movie for everyone. And, being someone who likes all the things I just
mentioned, I really, really, really loved it.
Anyway, what did you think of the movie. Be sure to tell me in the comments below. Thanks
for watching and be sure to subscribe.
