Somehow, skateboarding must have gone out of style. You don't ...
see all that many people skate around anymore,
the skate parks are empty and the perfect indicator
of skateboarding being out of fashion is:
Neither Activision nor EA are making any more skateboarding games.
Should be quite the dead giveaway.
Someone didn't get the memo yet,
and that's why we've got this blind bag: "Trick Power".
"Skateboard and skate card"
What's a "skate card"? No idea, but I fear it's another trading card.
These are made in Italy
by "Giochi Preziosi"
and contain ...
skateboards from the following series:
"Animal Gang", "Monster Crew", "Ninja Squad"
Hmm.
Yep ... "Dragones",
"Insector" and of course "Pirates", because
Ninjas would be nothing without Pirates.
"Not suitable for children under 3 years.", well, that should be a given. Something else
and rather dangerous:
"Danger of injury by functional sharp"
"Edges and points" - which likely means
the factory didn't remove them after molding the
plastic. At least I can't think of any other reason. And:
"Plastic pieces and cords are not part of the product."
Well, that's nice to know, but who was asking?
On a skateboard?
Cords?! Hmm.
Let's see what actually is part of the product.
Ah, it can be opened this way.
Tada! That's probably the skateboard.
Okay ... "Wicked Wasp".
Well, I have to say, this could have been worse.
It's screwed on ...
and has this typical anti-slip material like on real skateboards.
More or less attractive design ...
decent rolls ... replica axles that really look quite well.
As I said, this could have been much worse indeed!
So ...
everyone who always wanted to have a skateboard for his hands
so he can pretend to be Tony Hawk and trick around ...
which doesn't actually work all that well, but hey.
Here you go!
More power to you! What else do we have?
There are 48 of them, that's nice. And they
all look pretty damn good, I have to say.
Hmm.
Have I done them wrong? I mean ...
regardless of the questionable usefulness of
these things, they are rather decent from a purely technical
point of view. By the way, they do contain plastic parts. So much for that. But ...
Well, the usual card game. And accessories, including a ramp. Marvellous.
Which ...
I couldn't find anywhere so far, but who cares anyway?
"How to play using the skate cards."
"Each player puts his cards into a deck."
"You play with concealed cards."
Err ...
with concealed cards? How's that going to work?
Well ... you can see pretty well which card is what. ***.
To be honest, you'll likely need an entire box of
these bags to play this game properly anyway.
Which I'm pretty certain is the entire point.
Well.
"Trick Power" ...
you could buy it, but you don't have to!
But for all two fans of skateboarding still alive, these bags might very well be "it".
Thanks for watching, see you!
